"1. OUR wisdom, in so far as it ought to be deemed true and solid Wisdom, consists almost entirely of two parts: the knowledge of God and of ourselves. But as these are connected together by many ties, it is not easy to determine which of the two precedes and gives birth to the other. For, in the first place, no man can survey himself without forthwith turning his thoughts towards the God in whom he lives and moves; because it is perfectly obvious, that the endowments which we possess cannot possibly be from ourselves; nay, that our very being is nothing else than subsistence in God alone......2. On the other hand, it is evident that man never attains to a true self-knowledge until he have previously contemplated the face of God, and come down after such contemplation to look into himself." John Calvin

Calvin talks about coming down after viewing God to look in ourselves. He emphasis the big difference there is between us and God.  Because we are sinful and unholy and God is eternal and  beyond our idea of holiness then we see ourselves as insignificant concluding that we are all sin. But I want to go in another direction.

Because God is holy He is everything that His law describes. He can only accept His standard of law keeping. But we must understand that Gods law is the sustaining design that upholds everything. There is nothing in this world that was not designed by God that does not function apart from Gods design. We may conclude that sin and the curse have changed the design of things and in some ways thwarted the purposes of God to bring glory to Himself. But we must understand that in Gods original creation He left no stone unturned, left no detail out that would alter His purposes.

When sin entered the world God had already planned for His purposes to be fulfilled through sin and corruption. From the beginning of time God spoke everything into existence which includes His design for that person or thing from the beginning of time to the end of time. We have a hard time seeing the value and the logic of God in how things work out in our daily lives but there is nothing that happens that is beyond Gods control or His explanation.

We must understand that we do not possess that powers, vision, or the experience that God has. This is why the Bible says that God rules from His throne. God rules from His throne by speaking things into existence in detailing all things in creation in being successful in working all things for His glory because He is upholding His law.

God is the governor over the world. His ruling the earth is said to be the success of His law being carried as a timeless display of His heavenly kingdom. That heavenly kingdom has been given to us when we are saved. When we look at God we view Him separated from all kingdoms of the earth because He overrules all the corruption and decisions of man who oppose His purposes. Because He has put His kingdom in our hearts, He has given us the ability to experience of uniting with us in living with an understanding that all things are unified and upheld in this kingdom so that we are secure and made whole. We are said to have the fulness of God dwelling in us. Now He has become our defense and works to reorder all things to expand the success of His kingdom in us that cannot be thwarted. This is beyond our ability to work by the succession of our choices.
