Heb 9 14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death,[c] so that we may serve the living God!
28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Isaiah 54:2
“Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.
Ps. 22
1
My God, my God, why have you forsaken
me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from the words of my
groaning?
2
O my God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, and am not silent.
3
Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the praise of Israel.
4
In you our fathers put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them.
5
They cried to you and were saved; in you they trusted and were not disappointed.
6
But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by men and despised by the people.
7
All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads:
8
"He trusts in the LORD; let the LORD rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him."
9
Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you even at my mother's breast.
10
From birth I was cast upon you; from my mother's womb you have been my God.
11
Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help.
12
Many bulls surround me; strong bulls of Bashan encircle me.
13
Roaring lions tearing their prey open their mouths wide against me.
14
I am poured out like water, and all my
bones are out of joint. My heart has turned to wax; it has melted away
within me.
15
My strength is dried up like a potsherd,
and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me in the dust of
death.
16
Dogs have surrounded me; a band of evil
men has encircled me, they have pierced my hands and my feet.
17
I can count all my bones; people stare and gloat over me.
18
They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing.
19
But you, O LORD, be not far off; O my Strength, come quickly to help me.
20
Deliver my life from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs.
21
Rescue me from the mouth of the lions; save me from the horns of the wild oxen.
22
I will declare your name to my brothers; in the congregation I will praise you.
23
You who fear the LORD, praise him! All
you descendants of Jacob, honor him! Revere him, all you descendants of
Israel!
24
For he has not despised or disdained the
suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but
has listened to his cry for help.
25
From you comes the theme of my praise in
the great assembly; before those who fear you will I fulfill my vows.
26
The poor will eat and be satisfied; they
who seek the LORD will praise him-- may your hearts live forever!
27
All the ends of the earth will remember
and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations will bow down
before him,
28
for dominion belongs to the LORD and he rules over the nations.
29
All the rich of the earth will feast and
worship; all who go down to the dust will kneel before him-- those who
cannot keep themselves alive.
30
Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord.
31
They will proclaim his righteousness to a people yet unborn-- for he has done it.
This Psalm is Messianic. In Psalms 1 the Psalmist is describing two kinds of men. Psalm 1 is a short overview of what the Psalmist is going to describe in detail in the rest of the Psalms. We find as we read through the Psalms that the Psalmist is describing the motives, speech and actions of two men who are at war with each other to rule the earth. In this Messianic Psalm this Man experiences the actual circumstances that David prays to be delivered from in the rest of the Psalms. This is the only Man on earth that embraces the consequences of the curse so that we could be delivered from the curse. Now listen to me. If we were allowed to experience just a small portion of one of these terrible scourges we would be destroyed. The truth is that if He doesn't shield us from the potential to be cursed then we would never be saved. But the trouble we face is not from the curse but its our unbelief that He is really a complete substitute. Let me race through this.
The fuel for damnation is to experience shame and rejection. The Psalmist in cursing men who live by guilt says that they leave his soul forlorn.{ Sad or lonely because of isolation.} We curse the shaming because it adds fuel to our feelings of inadequacy and loneliness. "May they always say the Lord be exalted who delights in the well being of His servant." The only other option is to live in blame.
But here we see Christ forsaken not only by other men but by His Father. I do not think a person understands this kind of experience. If the person were really forsaken in the ultimate sense he would be swallowed up before he could commit suicide. The truth is that there are many good reasons that we feel forsaken but most of it is mysterious. I mean it is most always self inflicted anger. {Im not discussing physical problems with the brain.} The covenant that God made with us is a reminder that He will never forsake us. This part of the covenant is pointed out in the Psalms when the Psalmist is speaking to Israel in exile. It really is spoken as a creative healing in the worse part of the battle. Over the years when I spoke this promise I was motivated to find greater sweetness in meditation.
In Pslms 27 Gods government over the earth is not divided between executive , judicial and private citizenship. But its His acts as a Father to His children to save them. God fights our battles, controls our desires, and draws us into a face to face relationship with Him in the sense of real equal fellowship. In order that He might bring us back to the Patriarchal experience in an upside down world so that we might rule with Christ. We should come full circle in our lives. Or He will become our Father in the family sense. This is what it means to be accepted. I will write more about the verses above Psalm 22 and the rest of the Psalm.
