Ps 5 7 But I, by your great mercy,
will come into your house;
in reverence will I bow down
toward your holy temple.
8 Lead me, O LORD , in your righteousness
because of my enemies-
make straight your way before me.
Is the Psalmist asking God to zap him with mystical ability to walk the straight path? No because sin brought death. Death is not a mystical power that destroys. It is the work of Gods law in judgement upon creation. Sin and corruption are the redefinition of Gods law. This is why the condemnation of the sinner is always described by the words that he speaks. 9Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with destruction. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue they speak deceit. Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall."
Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you. The Psalmist is opposing the kingdom of darkness in cursing the wicked because of their inability to speak Gods thoughts after Him.
In order for the Psalmist to overcome the opposition of sin and corruption it must be according to the law, covenants , curses, statutes, promises and decrees. This is" making straight"the path of righteousness.The path of the curse is always redefining Gods law as opposed to the path of the righteous who pronounce the axioms. "with their tongue they speak deceit" 10 Declare them guilty, O God!"
