I need to talk about covenants. Every act of faithfulness is a covenant act. Its a contract that we have with God that enables us to endure this violent world. Because the world is a place where people do not uphold the end of their bargain. No man has ever established his reputation by covenant faithfulness. Thank God that leaders only have a short time on this earth because they back out of contracts all the time.
Pain is represented by a society in which people do not uphold their contracts. But this starts from the top down. Did you know that God gave Israel a divorce not just because of spiritual unfaithfulness but because they made contracts into false scales? They produced a society that required a person give more than it was worth. This is always the reason that God judges a society because the culture that is created oppresses the poor. When at  the top do not uphold their contracts it creates oppression and pain. Every pain is either directly related to ones personal life or its a hidden cancer that oppresses a person. It is caused by the third and fourth parties who have backed out of the contracts. Now listen to me... this is where God works!!!! Did you know that hardness in a spiritual sense is a society whos eyes are full of adultery? Now this means that marriage contracts are not upheld. So you have a church full of adulterers by the process of rejection of covenant understanding. It does not matter how one desires to please God ... God rejects this form of communication.
So when society is turned upside down the rich feed off the poor. Because all of the contracts that are made in the process of communication are violated. Listen ... God sees everything. God is a pox God. Curse your heart out.

We are commanded to pray for the peace of Jerusalem of which it is my fondest companion in the Kingdom of the Davidic rule. All of my arguments come from Davids dominance over the world. I am a descendant of David through Christ so these people are important to my own safety. God doesnt change ... some how in the future and it may be happening now they will turn to Christ.
Our country is not really constitutional in the way it was envisioned by those writers. What we are witnessing now is a street fight between the multi national corporations and the government. The greed is destroying our country. This whole political system is historically going on track like Rome. Trust me people... elections are not going to solve this problem.

Owen has a book about sin and this book was one of the reason i took to memorizing the entire book of Psalms. Because there was some frustrating concepts in this book that i needed resolved in my own mind. Now i will gladly take the label of antinomian which my spell check does not even recognize as correct. hehe But it has become clear to me that my understanding of the gospel is rejected by the leaders who i discuss things with in all of these situations of life. This is how far we have fallen. I memorize and meditate on the Psalter and am accused of being a reprobate!  Geezzzzzzzzzzzz
But Owen paints a picture that we wait on forgiveness through this idea of spoken peace. Now in my opinion this borders on armininism. I know mysticism when i see it described. But full forgiveness is something a covenant child enjoys from his regeneration. And we become fully identified with Christ. Although we are forgiven we do not always enjoy the peace that comes from being forgiven. And this is where i believe the Psalmist is giving his attention to. Its the human experience as we apply the gospel to every thing that we experience on the inside. So we go up and down in a meta physical sense and the Psalmist is concerned that we apply the gospel in a holistic way so that we will act in a way that will produce a secure mind.
This is why i believe it is dangerous to take these terms out of the context of the Kings view of all of life. Ive even had disagreements with people about the description of a wicked man of whether the Psalmist was pointing to one of his military situations or a man inside the city of Zion who stands condemned by the courts. But all of these terms in the Psalms are energized in the conquest motif.
This is why waiting in the Psalms is like fighting. I do not think we are waiting for any kind of grace in the sense that we need something that we have not already received in our union with Christ. Our problem is how we view and adapt to our present circumstances. This is why the Psalms are geared toward a wisdom that God promises out of a realism of providing us with a sense of spiritual boldness that comes to us in a correct application of these doctrines of grace and not waiting for them to make us confident!
We wait for forgiveness because we are like the watchmen who waits to protect the city from people who would climb the walls to attach the people inside. The Kings main avenue of defense is through the watchman of the city. It is like the Shepherd who watches over the sheep but this shepherd is both the king and the warrior and his eyes of protection are through the watchman.
So now we must understand that God speaks peace through might and not a passive redemption! This waiting is for real redemption in time. It is contrasted with the wicked man who trust in himself for his peace that he pays for out of his estate. The wicked man attacks the poor because he does not wait but advances through false words and corrupted thinking. This man says in his heart i will never be shaken! This is the opposite of the righteous man who waits on God to intervene.
This is the core of having union with Christ in a society of real redemption going out to community. A man who waits is one who trust in God alone. We are not talking about law and grace being opposites in the christian experience but we are talking about law and false scales being opposites. Grace precedes full acceptance with God. This precludes that we now are protected by God.Union is a state in which a man experiences something that he cannot produce in himself! It is a way of speaking that produces future reality. It gives a man the ability to reverse all of the causes that come from the wicked identity. We enjoy forgiveness but we look for a dominate peace in fighting this spiritual battle. The strongest times in our lives is when we are quieted out of a sense of desperation and we begin to call on God. This is the real paradigm of waiting.

Our problem is not that we violate a law but we think that one violation is not as bad as the other guys violation. This is exactly what man reasoned just after eating the fruit in the garden. The leaves that man put on were for self protection. This was the incurable disease. Man had a need that could not be met in himself so instead of waiting on God man took it into his own hands to protect himself. Go on to mt Sinai... what did the people do? Moses goes up the mountain to talk with God. The people felt rejected by Gods silence. The people were not waiting for Moses to come down the mountain and condemn them. These people had taken part in the act of circumcision that had guaranteed them full acceptance and inheritance in Israel. They wanted the law for their own protection!
But instead they decided just like the first man and woman to do something in order to please God. So instead of waiting for Moses they created a god of their own. Now this is exactly why the world produces their own way. Because every man is blind to waiting on the coming Redeemer. Man naturally will look to the law to gain his acceptance.
What happened when Moses came down the mount? He required of the people to take sides. The people who wanted to gain acceptance with God through the idol self sacrifice stood on one side and the people who wanted the animal skins stood on the other side. What did God tell the people of grace? He told them to slay their own family country men, friends, and anyone who stood on self righteousness!
This is because any man who trust in his own way is cursed! The problems with relationships is not going to get better with compromise. Its much worse than this. Its a problem of needing something outside of Gods promises that fulfills the to understand who we are. It is so bad that not only must we draw all of our acceptance from God but we must see the power of the law as it really is. That it is impossible for us to meet the standards. The way we do this as a reminder is to be passionate toward those who raise their fist at God and proclaim independence by trusting in their own obedience. We must curse this way!

May your enemies bless you even as you curse them.

I love your acceptance..... wish you would have accepted the drug addict who did not want the twelve step... now thats prejudice  there...  cool

K_k:  I ask God to bless all sin addicts who do or don't want the 12 steps, who do or don't want Jesus.

Remember Jesus on the Cross crying out,  "Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing"?  He didn't specify who to forgive and who to curse.
Kk your not fooling me... i listen to your side on the radio all the time.. your not telling the whole truth. Your trying to get brownie points with me... it doesnt work. I know more about where you come from than you do.

I do not see the world view as distinctly two sided. But i see our society as three sided. I do not share the Augustinian view. I see three distinct cultures and i think the bible teaches my view. There is the spiritual culture the normal culture and the abnormal culture. The spiritual culture and normal are inter related. With the abnormal culture the cursed the death or a fight to the end. It could one day be a civil war if the rite people were put in place by God.

I do not think problems stem mainly from christian sin. I believe that the problems first start from the cultural degeneration of the patriarchal society. In other words the church must exercise its authority to protect the members from the abnormal culture as the basis for holistic practice. I believe the church is not necessarily a club with rules to keep members in check but a spiritual army. I believe any other view would work to undermine the authority of the church as a family structure with individual family high priest as the represented culture of authority.
Ive practice this view since i had a family. I sought to keep out of the abnormal culture. Not because of any desire to not take the gospel to the other cultures but i believe that its a situation like Sodom and Gomorrah. You got to withdraw from the abnormal destructive nature of this degeneration. So i curse that culture to protect my children. The curses lead to a desire the desire leads to a cause and the cause leads to normal child rearing.
I remember once being in a meeting with the leaders of our home school movement. Which incidentally was a cause that supports my idea of a normal society. Patriarchal. I dont care if your a jw ... 12 stepper or what ever. Just as long as you support normal cultural practices of child rearing then we work together. And now the homeless is my cause too.  I only get my feathers up when you cause problems for my wife and children and i will curse your ass.I do not mean the home schoolers .. bless their hearts .. but the abnormal threats.... I am a mean Calvinist. I like a peaceful life. I am not a tough person by nature so i do not put up with foolishness.  I dont even know most of the time who it is. Because normal family is life and death to me. I dont mean in a physical retaliatory sense. The only reason i confront Kk is because he is crossing one of my causes which is to talk about grace. Plus he got exclusive. I was doing fine and then one day he said something that i had to confront.
But i remember i was in this meeting and we were having some issue with some people causing us problems. With my praying life i am used to peaceful resolutions . But i had said that i hope these people do not cause more problems and it was with a very stern look. Well that was the last time i was invited to the leadership meetings.... lmao. But i seriously will get where i am happy and things are going smooth or i will not stop my Psalmist cries until it is that way. I have found that this meditation is the path way to peace... i mean real peace.
Now i have been forced to confront the abnormal world. This is going to be interesting. Psalms 1
 1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the LORD,
and who meditates on his law day and night
.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
   whatever they do prospers.
 4 Not so the wicked!
   They are like chaff
   that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

The promise is The Lord Watches.. which is not like the moral philosophers who say that God searches us to find sin but He actually searches us to confront our adversaries and provide a remedy of wisdom to make us as bold as lions. Psalm one is giving us a general outline of the rest of the Psalms. Watches is in the context of provision and the wicked are led to waste and destruction.

pj:  "I seem to be upsetting you. I'm getting more bold."  Smiley

K_k:  That was cute, but i'm not upset yet, more boldness is required...   cool

pj:  "Yes, we need to repent. In my experience, Jesus did not whack me over the head with scripture and force me to repent. He loved me."

K_k:  Yes, he loved me enough to convict me of the wrongness of my heart and actions.  Sometimes He had to "whack" me a little to get my attention.  But it is His love which transforms me, not apart from His Word, but in conjunction with it, not apart from chastisement but through it as needed.

The Bible is the greatest love letter there is.  And by His grace, His instructions are not a burden but become a joy.

"For this is the love of God, that we keep His Commandments. And His Commandments are not burdensome."  1 John 5:3

gouda:  "Jesus overcame the world.  Surely he has power to make us overcomers, too, even if we spend some time (maybe a very long time) looking like the underachievers.  He is able to get us there, and he's the only judge that matters."

K_k:  He loves us even when we are totally "under-achievers", in the sight of others or even ourselves.  But that doesn't stop Him from calling us to more of His righteousness than we have been willing to receive in practice.

mbG:  "Kk offers some truth. He states that a man cannot get what he wants on his own. To which we say amen. But then he goes rite out and denies it in the next 11 steps. We say on the other hand that a man cannot get what he wants on his own and we then we direct the man to grace. A favor that is free. No other steps."

K_k:  Look more closely at the 12 steps and see which ones Jesus doesn't want you to take.  Does He want you to seek through prayer and meditation to improve your contact with Him, praying for knowledge of His will for you and the power to carry it out?  Does He want you to examine your life and admit it promptly when you are wrong?  Does He want you to depend on Him to remove your shortcomings?

The grace is free, the path He lays out is His plan for our recovery, and it takes some effort.

mbG:  "But Kk is like the salesman who starts off with the free stuff and then you go to the next page and read the fine print. It was written by someone with a knowledge of the law. Kk... at least the salesman puts it in the smallest font so its hard to read."

K_k:  Sorry, mbG, there's no fine print.  If we want to recover from sin addiction, He has laid out the Way He recovers us, and we just need to accept His plan and His power.  We cannot recover by refusing to cooperate with His will for our lives, since that will is our very recovery.

Which of the steps of recovery are you trying to avoid, mbG?

Heres what we preach Kk... We preach Christ and Him crucified. That means the first step is grace. Grace gives us supernatural power in Christ. When we sin God gives us grace to cover that sin. When we are tempted God gives us grace to withstand from apostatizing. When we need anything... power... will...desire... food... victory over sin... help from depression... from addiction... anything we do not receive one thing from men that is a necessary redeeming value. We live in grace.
In the covenant God promises to provide for us... not the government.. not the church... not the corporations... not small business but God says that He works for us as a display of His promise to provide for us. This is a fact . We go to God and He determines our pay scale! If we need something we ask God who gives to all men without finding fault! Grace is what makes all these gifts shared gifts according to Gods decrees.
So we do not put our confidence in leaders.. in wives ... in husbands ... in preachers ... in mens counsel etc.. we put all of our confidence in God. Do you know why? Because God takes the addicted powerless sinful man and proves His love to that man by giving the man honor by grace! When we learn to think rite we will be filled with the resurrection power from on high and nothing can stop us. You will do things you never thought you could do. You will meet opposition you never thought you could conquer. Your on your way to the glory people! He told me to tell you....

I know you want to "trap" me badly, mbG.  But all i am saying is that what Christ is doing in the 12 steps is fully grace.  Recall that addicts are powerless to control their addiction or manage their own lives apart from Him.  Only He heals and frees from bondage.

And we are called upon by Him, and empowered by Him, to do 12 things which the actively practicing addict cannot truly do, so it is only by the grace of God that anyone can recover.  That is my "yes": recovery is all of grace, yet we must cooperate with Him.

Not quite what you had in mind?   Smiley
Dont act like  I am the only one who disagrees with you. You are the only one here who agrees with you... what was that a smile ok... and your giving me your psychobabble language ... can you speak christianese?.. not fundy tho.  cool

We believe when God gives us grace we do not need anything else. He gives us all we need. So our response is the only thing we are required to give Him. We praise Him alone. We do not put confidence in people. When we get the first step we have a relationship with God. He is all we need. In being regenerated we will never be moved. There is nothing that can harm us not even a man. We are in Gods hands. He promises to provide for us.. He gifts us with His Spirit who teaches us all things... we do not need men to teach us.

When we come to Him we simply ask for grace. Grace is an unmerited favor. We did nothing to earn it and we do nothing to keep it. We get grace for nothing. We need grace in the time of need because we need to be assured of His promises. When we apply for grace we simply come to our Father who accepts us with all of our addictions and He grants us more grace. We learn that we can do nothing without Him.

When we do that first step we are looked at from Gods view as completely righteous. There is no more forgiveness necessary. God gives it to us in His Son. When we do not feel worthy we only need to look to Christ. Christ was as worthy as any man will ever be. In His life and death He obtained all we need. We simply look to Him and we are encouraged.

Our trust is in God alone. But men who are godless are seeking to destroy our trust. Because they have no received saving grace but they still think they can earn Gods grace. But we simply come to the throne of grace as we are. No other things are going to produce what God can do directly to us.

mbG:  "Now its your turn... swear to personal harm and God before everyone here that the 12 steps are accurately defining grace. If you are serious then lets get to it. "

K_k:  I don't swear, i let my "yes be yes" and my "no be no".  Here are the principles of grace in the 12 steps, which we have discussed before.  This is what He is doing as we "take the steps".  This is my "yes"....

1.  He convicts us that we are powerless over our sin addiction, that our lives are unmanageable without Him.

2.  He inspires us to believe that He can restore us to sanity.

3.  He builds our trust in His ability, and willingness, to take good care of our lives and will.

4.  He gives us courage to be fearless and searching in examining our moral inventory.

5.  He motivates us to admit to Him, to ourselves and to another person, the exact nature of our wrongs.

6.  He prepares us to get ready to ask Him to remove all our defects of character, in His way and time.

7.  He moves us to humbly ask Him to remove our shortcomings, in His way and time.

8.  He helps us to forgive others and to make a list of those whom we have harmed.

9.  He develops our willingness to make amends to others, and provides situations for us to do so, except when making the amend would harm someone else.

10. He trains us to continue to take personal inventory, and to admit it when we are wrong, increasingly more promptly.

11. He grows our reliance on Him, through prayer and meditation, to seek only His will for us and the power to carry it out.

12. He teaches us to apply these principles, and their reliance upon Him, in all our affairs, and moves us to carry the message of freedom to other sin addicts.

K_k:  Which of these do you see as not being by, and of, His grace?

So with your yes you are saying it as the gospel truth. And if it does not fall in with the doctrines of grace then its to your own harm. Your yes means you believe its the gospel truth ... to death rite?

Youve change the words to make it look more pleasing to us who believe in Gods sovereignty... your a sly guy... Kk

Every day you lay these request before God. These are situations you are involved in that you need protection from. This is why i dont think this is a list per say but its the calls to heaven out of a sense of desperation. In a sense this is like going to war against the schemes of the Devil. We must deal with the schemes of the Devil in order to get to the truth. But we cannot fight these schemes in our own thinking. This is why we can call down curses on the wicked. In a real sense nothing happens unless the powerful are dethroned by God alone.

This is why we are not helpless but we have dwelling in us the Godhead. Think about that. God is sharpening His sword. He is getting ready to bring in the wine press. He will avenge the wicked before our eyes. We are living in evil days ... men who think nothing of destroying other mens lives. We have a remedy. The christian faith is a real strong hold. Its not a dreamy kind where we wish it would come about in the future. Its a praying down the forces of heaven to come and avenge our cause. Listen... every morning you pray and eventually it will happen before your eyes. The bible is a book of real powers and we can exercise our faith.
We pray these psalms with passion like Christ did in the garden. We pray as much as we can but we will not  bloody sweat. The advantage we have over Christ is that He gave us more power to curse them to their end because He gave us His Spirit. I will promise you from experience that this is so. We pray and wait in expectation. We will see it.

People think we have a personal mission in this life. But that is not the case. We have a purpose only when we see that everything is ordered in our lives by Gods design. This is why we must take ourselves out of the teaching. I mean it is about us but it is not about us. Its about us as long as we are receiving grace. It is not about us when we go through suffering. God requires us to suffer for His names sake. Because this christian life is impossible for us to order our own way. Shoot when i look back at all the things that have been accomplished through me i am really put to the test of fear.
But i do not have a personal conflict in this writing. I am writing the word. But people take offense at me because they disagree or they take it personal. But cursing is not personal. Its to create a path of peace. Its to create a society of the rescued. God really is a God of solutions not finger pointing. Finger pointers sit on the side lines and complain. We have no time to complain. The only real negative things that come from our mouths are yea and amen the other way as well as the promises. That is His desire to help us escape the snares of the Devil.
Every time i enter a trial i begin to press into the promises. Because i really feel a sense of desperation. I am a weak person naturally. But it is important to me that what goes on inside of me is brought to a solution oriented mentality. I seriously do not even want to be around people who live to find fault. Wishing something into reality is everything to my understanding of the gospel. Be careful to allow Gods wisdom to control your ways.

The mission of the people of God must be a violent one. Not violent in the sense of physical. But violence in how we approach God. We must have an attitude that we will take no prisoners. The people who sit on the side lines are in danger of destruction even if they are among Gods covenant people.
This is why salvation is not the answer to a moral equation of rite and wrong. Although we are to obey we can never meet the demands of the law. So our whole lives must be seen as us being accepted by another righteousness. This is an impossible life to simulate or match. It is the impossibility that gives us acceptance. The warriors are the helpless... the down trodden... the ones who have no strength and the ones who are caught in the schemes of the wicked. We are the ones who in the worlds eyes looks like we are easy prey and we have no ability to defend ourselves.
This is why the church is made up of the real Christians and the actors. The real christians are fully enabled to fight this battle in the power of God. But the ones who act are in it for the self gratification and their own reputation. We are forced to fight out of a sense of desperation. The christian is one who is all alone and stands his ground knowing that God will deliver him. While the others are man please rs and easily led along by the rules of these false teachers.

This is why we have the curses because when we come to God ... He only hears those who call on Him in the day of trouble. The fellowship of the church is a fellowship of suffering. So that anyone who belongs to this fellowship understands the reality of God being among men. The others are looking at these things with a complaining eye. So we are enabled to determine who is wheat and who are the tares but not by identity. We have the curses. We curse anyone who does not delight in the well being of His servants. This means that we must join forces to stand in for our brothers. Christ says if you see your brother in need and shut your self up how dwells the love of God in you.

Christ was saying it is impossible to do this in the natural desires. We must be about delighting in the well being of His servants. We are commanded to pray and go. If we do not go then we are not understanding our mission. Our going is engaging the enemy and we are all shepherds of one another. If we make this about sin then we will suffer in the end because a true saint goes as a sinner and his life is not viewed as a balance but as a giving up himself.

The ot idea of the atonement was that the sacrifice for sin would be taken care of by a coming redeemer out of the prophecy that He would save Israel from their sins. This is why they had a covenant view of salvation. Because they saw that salvation was promised to them not through predominately the daily sacrifices but in the promise that God would dwell with them and attend to their daily needs. But they did not see Gods presence as just as local in a tent but they understood that God was eternal. It was the eternal glory of God who delivered them in their battles ,not just the glory in the tent.
The daily sacrifices were never the predominate explanation of Gods salvation. Because God was bigger than the sacrifices. They understood that the animal sacrifices could not gain them acceptance with God. But it was by grace alone through faith alone. This is why salvation was extended in their world view as a means to procure more than just forgiveness. They were on a conquest to have the kingdom of God rule the earth. I do not understand this teaching that says the acceptance through the atonement is all we get as a means of comfort and we are to carry this message to the world. Its portrayed as a kind of cookie cutter discipleship world view. There is a much bigger conquest that is ours just like the ot conquest. We are to resist evil in all areas of society.
This is why the Kingdom of God was promised in Davidic kingdom. To David and his descendants. Which is a continuous conquest.  Salvation was in the national battle motif. Gods protection of His people was not just concerned for their doctrinal preciseness. But it was a world view that produced a generation of the righteous through the idea of taking heaven by force. If we only see that salvation is described as obtaining peace with God as the only hope we have in this world then we are denying that how we end our lives and enter heaven... our condition of our bodies... our growth and rewards .. and our general concern for others has no connection to the quality of the transition.

mbG:  "Cursing in a biblical sense goes beyond the relationships in a culture and focuses the effect breaking in to time. Cursing is love in defense of the helpless."

mbG:  "The most rational holistic understanding of truth is to involve oneself in daily cursing."

mbG:  "So Jesus practice cursing them. Because this was a form of defense to the helpless and sinners."

mbG:  "We grab a hold of the curses and we unlock the riches of God."

mbG:  "Our cursing language cannot fail. We will protect our world view by cursing the men who live by threats and who have destroyed other people lives."

mbG:  "Ive meditated on these Psalms so many times i cant count."

Jesus:  “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’  But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,  that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust."  Matthew 5:43-45

Gal.... 1  9As we said before, so I now say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel different from or contrary to that which you received [from us], let him be accursed (anathema, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment)

K_k:  "For I could wish that I myself were accursed, separated from Christ for the sake of my brethren..."  Romans 9:3

"As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a Gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!"  Galatians 1:9 NASV

K_k:  To be accursed is to be cut off from Christ.  If anyone is preaching a false Gospel, they are doomed to the Second Death, the punishment that lasts forever; they are devoted to their own destruction.  Paul is not recommending us to curse them, just stating that they are already accursed (unless they repent).

Is there a fly pestering me? Got to scratch my nose... oh its the little man. hey brah

I agree with much of what you are saying, mbG.  Except one thing.

mbG:  "This is why most people overlook or reject that God does everything in this world. "

Some people reject the idea that God does everything in this world because He doesn't actively force everyone who does wrong to sin.  For example,

"Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.  But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.  Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death."  James 1:13-15

God doesn't tempt anyone, or cause them to do evil.  Their own desires do that.
A person is going to sin as long as sin dwells in them. This sin was imputed to the account of every man from birth because the first man Adam failed the test of free will. So every man not only was imputed with sin but that brought about a total corruption of the entire time sequence. If men were able to sin apart from Gods knowledge which is the working of all things according to His omnipresence.. omnipotentence and omniscience so that the universe is a succession of events that are decreed by God before the world was created then it would be a chance happening outside of these decrees. That includes sin ....sir.

I swear by the doctrines of grace every day so that my trust in grace demands that i wish self harm if i did not trust this to be so. Now its your turn... swear to personal harm and God before everyone here that the 12 steps are accurately defining grace. If you are serious then lets get to it.

Just what i thought... real weight huh.

Where did this monster of good works go? Guess i got to call him little man now.

As we grow in the spiritual dimension we begin to see that we have times where we are on a mountain top experience. God raises us up above our foes and we are looking down at them. They know because God makes them aware by creating reality in which we know and they know the true positions as it should be in Gods kingdom. This is a dangerous place to be for a christian for a long time because God lays positive weights on us in order for us to further clear a flat path that on the one hand brings much destruction so that our cause will flourish. We live in a sinful world that has no hope apart from God entering time and acting to bring about real change. The rest of these actions by men are like filthy rags to God. Men naturally are like bloated self confident fools. They look stupid from Gods view.

When God lays a burden on us ... as we grow we begin to respond in a way that we know what is going to happen because it has happened so many times before. We have cleared a flat ground for spiritual prosperity in our prayers. The most devastating storm in this life is to be able to feel a need to chop some trees down in a spiritual sense. It is spiritual warfare. We view our prayers as responding to a weight laid on our shoulders in order to begin to chop these oppositions to the ground. I do not think men can produce this effect. They are pawns in this experience. We understand how forces are inter acting with space so it doesnt bring us into self confidence but a sense of sorrow for the world. If everyone was in a low estate there would be real peace. But we begin to take up these calls to God for salvation. God is a good listener. Because God listens to the cries of the afflicted and powerless. The world is ruled in Gods order from the bottom up. But the powerful have duped the helpless into believing that other forces can bring them relief. The righteous trust in God alone and He has given us real weapons. These weapons are more powerful than a tornado.. hurricane... these forces are angels who destroy whole armies in one swoop.

We begin to call on God and in the focus we feel the opposition. We focus more and plead longer then we begin to sense the winds of the Spirit. Then something snaps. You just know that something happened because there is a new conversion in your mind. Its not just wisdom but is a powerful effect of the mode of future actions coming to us in love and faithfulness. Its what i call the one way flow of reality.  That is a chop where the tree is beginning to topple. Its an encouragement that the next time there will be love in the morning. A word from God. But the burden is still there. So you go at the root of the tree again. As long as the burden is there God has not really spoken the word of salvation to you. He must speak loud and clear. And your foes must be seen to understand. This is His covenant love promise that love and faithfulness will follow us. It is irrevocable. You look at the people that He has rescued in your path and it is not easily understood along the way.

Yes Gouda Hitler was a monster. I believe the prayers of the saints brought this man down. We like to think the American military machine has some kind of magic peace accomplishments but God raises up enemies that cannot be defeated by military might. Think about that. They become a thorn in the side of countries gone mad.
This world is a cursed world. Men are naturally cursing in their accusations and path way of threats and violence. We do not need to learn how to curse ... it is natural. Did you know that Jesus cursed but claimed that the wicked curse the righteous? Now think of this ... a real mystery.... think about how it defines reality. Think deeply about the souls needs in relationship to the depth of resistance to the ways of God. Think about the attacks of the soul by the natural distresses created by the world forces. Think about the break downs of the natural order of the universe ... think about Gods ways being to set one family member against another. Think about how deep this war is in the human experience. Because we are to go beyond the way things appear in the behavioral modification mode and get to the root of the attack!

We are people who enjoy the thoughts of God. We are really commanded to act by rite thinking and speaking. God doesnt give a hoot about our good deeds. He wants us to come to Him and speak with wisdom! Hes a Father who communicates through our own language and creates our way by the word of His mouth. Did you know we can do all these good things on our own and never know the reality of the way things really work through the process before the will is seen in action? This is not a secularist reality but a relational decreeing universe. God speaks reality into our relationship with Him. He redeems His people through the means of faith alone!

Why do we curse? Because we are desperate for God to speak! Why does God destroy the spirit of some people and lay positive burdens on others? Because sin is something that is like a person and we do not always understand how it has worked in each persons experience. But we know that salvation is being saved from this world as well as being saved from our own disastrous distresses. We will be saved from ourselves so we can be completely free. The curse represents our need to be saved from ourselves in looking at the threats that we encounter. But the wicked curse in order to destroy and profit. Its impossible for the christian to curse from a cursed spiritual paradigm.

Yes i agree abch we have needs here. In reading my entire post i hope it is clear that i put these things in perspective. The apostle was not confident in himself but in God. So that confidence was his confidence. The people who have self confidence have it in relationship to a thing. This is taking what the apostle said and turning it into a scheme for self protection. Our natural sinful desire is to use the obedience sections of scripture to point to why we must defend our position by pointing to what we have done. This is why most people overlook or reject that God does everything in this world. People live with the deception of a chance happening so they have a superficial relationship with God and take comfort in comparing themselves with the commands of God.
This is why Jesus made it plain those who trust in Me will rejoice in Me. Those who understand the way things are done do not live with a continuous focus on themselves and how they measure up. They spend very little time looking at what they can get through obedience. All of their time is spent in glorifying God by enjoying Him forever.

Did you know the problems with the world is not that they are completely godless? But they do the first thing in order to obtain acceptance with God. But the christian experience is anti intuitive. In other words we grow up by growing down. We give up every thing to obtain our prize. But when we look back at our lives God has used us in His kingdom mission because we have sought to be completely dependent on Him. People do not get in the way of spiritual progress by thinking how they are going to do it. They just do the natural thing.

The apostle says the whole world is blind to the ways of God. The world progresses by power and control. They destroy others on the way up. They think that God is not watching. But the righteous call upon God. But the religious people call upon God and focus on their obedience. They never develop a child like dependence. They still are restless and unbending. They still practice destruction but they do it with more self confidence than the godless man. Religious convictions in a wrong direction are like holding an atomic bomb in you hands. If these convictions are not brought along by sound teaching then in the end it makes it twice as worse for the religious person than the godless man. It blows up in their faces. But the person who has depended on God calls on God alone in the day of disaster and God begins this new special assurance of providing wisdom and a sound mind. And i am not talking about a different level of christian living ... i am saying this is normal christian living.

Equality is important because everything we are is gifted to us by God. So non of us is a possession of the other. I mean if you want to take the responsibility for all of your partners decisions then you have a rite to own them. But each person is extremely valuable to God. And the value is expressed in the exercise of their gifts that God has given them. This is why life is so messy because people have problems in a personal sense that have also been gifted by God. The negative experiences that each person has are given so they will understand their marriage partner better and be more concerned to protect... encourage... and support in a life long renewal process. Since we belong to God then He determines the best way to be renewed in this life. This is why He put the man and the woman together in marriage.
Since there are two sinners in this thing then it is much easier to put up road blocks in Gods design of this special covenant relationship.  got to run

Good points, Thor. I agree actually.

I was just pointing out that all sins--committed/omitted/thought/done--ARE equal in that any and all of them deserve judgment.  We're all disqualified without Christ's blood.  It does bother me that many in the Christian community seem to think homosexuality is especially heinous.  It's sex--it's not child sacrifice, so no they're not equal.

Would a homosexual--flaming, though they may be--be welcome in your church, without someone thinking they needed to get in their face for a confrontation or refuse to hang out with them, as some here said they would do?  I just want them to be able to come, and to hear.  That's all.  How can they know, unless they hear?

Jesus chastized the hypocrites for minding meticulous behavior that had no heart to remember mercy and judgment and faith.  That's the error of human reasoning that MBG was pointing to also.  And that's what we do also, when we won't allow homosexuals to be free to attend our churches, and we won't hang out with them.

I'm not the only one here who might have been leaning too much on my own understanding.

Gouda ... i agree... If we confess our sins privately... or quietly outside of the view of every body then we are displaying the rite attitude. But that sin was already taken care of on the cross. The only people who we have problems with are those who want to boast in the flesh as the apostle says. Look what Paul wishes against the Pharisees here in Galatians 1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

2 Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. 3 Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. 4 You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. 5 For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
Obedience is faith expressing itself through love. We stand on Gods covenant love. Everything we draw from that keeps us from doubting is found outside of us. Its in Gods eternal decrees that He loved us before the foundation of the world. This means that salvation is in God alone. As the saints say in heaven... Salvation belongs to God who sits on the throne and to the Lamb ... the avenging Lamb. We express our believing on the basis of Gods unfailing love. This unfailing love is directed toward our need to be honored as sinners. So He stands in our place and brags about us to the devil when we are being accused! This is why we are not just hanging in there but we are over comers.

7 You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? 8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you. 9 “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.” Gal. 5 10 I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is throwing you into confusion, whoever that may be, will have to pay the penalty. 11 Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished. 12 As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!

Now circumcision is a work that one performs in order to be accepted before God. Every man has a war going on in his own soul between his performance and Gods grace. Its between resting in Christ work and the dreadful unbelief. Did you know that most people who display the worse christian character do it out of a need to do good? They want to prove they are accepted. Here the apostle says to them i hope they pay the full penalty.. which is to be judged by your sin. In other places the apostle calls these people "Dogs". Wow... thats not only unloving but will put a permanent rift in these relationships.
Let me explain the ot concept of the pharisee who is a dog. These people are compared to the worse fool. They are like the most violent man. These people are the ones who are said to eat the scraps off of the streets like a dog. A wicked man is blind to the truth and all of his schemes are designed to profit off of the poor. But a Pharisee profits in the destruction of the character and lives of other people. His religious fervor is compared to traitor who is like a dog that wanders about the city looking for the scraps of food and howling because he is never satisfied. In other words he is not satisfied to attack someone but he must advance and destroy him with his rules.
But the saint is so thankful to God because he understands that Gods love is all encompassing that he does not focus on his sins. But he trust that God will do as He promised.

The reason we are not aware when real threats draw near is because we havent learned enough of gaining power over our own souls. You see the christian life is peace and love. Its dwelling in a kind of heavenly joy and feeling the pleasure of Gods glory as He radiates through all eternity. This effect stills our souls. If you have ever gone into a room...test your self... see if your stillness can effect other people. Because the peace is not like a quiet library but its a one that passeth understanding or its radiating the atmosphere with eternal longings.

This is why a holy man can immediately sense evil. Its the initial sense but it needs investigation. The way of God is to feel a sense of weakness so that you are like the weak. Its a general concern for the poor and oppressed. Because Gods promise is that He will sustain us on our sick beds if we are directing our focus to the needy. But we cannot muster up this consistent spirit of generosity. We must be brought to a quietness in a glory focus. This is the way of the blessed and is opposite to the cursed.

Psalm 41
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
1 Blessed are those who have regard for the weak;
the LORD delivers them in times of trouble.
2 The LORD protects and preserves them—
they are counted among the blessed in the land—
he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.
3 The LORD sustains them on their sickbed
and restores them from their bed of illness.

 4 I said, “Have mercy on me, LORD;
heal me, for I have sinned against you.”
5 My enemies say of me in malice,
“When will he die and his name perish?”
6 When one of them comes to see me,
   he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander;
then he goes out and spreads it around.

 7 All my enemies whisper together against me;
they imagine the worst for me, saying,
8 “A vile disease has afflicted him;
he will never get up from the place where he lies.”
9 Even my close friend,
   someone I trusted,
one who shared my bread,
   has turned against me.

 10 But may you have mercy on me, LORD;
raise me up, that I may repay them.
11 I know that you are pleased with me,
for my enemy does not triumph over me.
12 Because of my integrity you uphold me
and set me in your presence forever.

13 Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel,
   from everlasting to everlasting.
            Amen and Amen.

Cursed is the man who trust in himself. This is because a spiritually blind man is his own enemy. The only person who can see this is a covenant child. So we are required to say amen! This is not saying cursed in the sense of this man being an individual but its in the context of an adversarial relationship with his power and how it is expressed in community. The man wants his control. If we do everything that everyone wants according to their standard we would be beyond hope.
Now what most people do is they say why are you so easily led to do what other people want you to do? Then they immediately focus on your psychological profile in order to explain the miss understanding. But we are taught to hate other masters and to love only one master. It is better to curse the standard than to do it to please other men! We are to curse these self righteous threats like they are. If you love Jesus you will have a passionate hate for the leaven.

But we must determine to fight on our knees. Because these things are demonic. Satan is the most religious being in the universe. He will try to thwart Gods people through other men. Sometimes the demon will enter them and you will be the target. But we cannot confront what we do not see.  We cannot gain power over what is too strong for us. But we must tell God. This is our privilege to curse the wicked and call to God for help because this spirit is too strong. We are not focusing on the spirit but we are remembering that there are head shots in a spiritual sense. These head shots are meant to disarm us and to destroy our cause. We must know that God is a protector of our heads. He keeps us from those powers that are too strong for us.

Jesus says if you resist the devil He will flee from you. You have the offensive weapon... the spoken word of God. Thats all you need. You have a thrust in the curse thats all the fighting you need to do. You have the word to protect your life ... thats all you need! We have the most powerful effect rite in our own minds.

Sin is always present. But its not what we do in order to obtain freedom. Jesus said that in order for us to be His disciple we must recognize that we are powerless and helpless without Him. Jesus was not asking us to meet a standard that we could not intellectually understand. What we must do is begin to think Gods thoughts after Him. Jesus was telling His disciples they needed to engage their minds so that their understanding would be enlightened. Discipleship is relinquishing the rite to think independently of Jesus. But it is not a perfect desire.
Our problem with sin is not fighting specific sins. Even tho the bible talks in a way that identifies sin we are not to dwell on our individual sins. The reason is because we are not under the bondage to a sin. Its not the power of the evil that is too strong for us but its our reasoning about it that produces the power. When Jesus said in order to be my disciple you must sell all you have.. .He was telling them they must determine to give God all of the glory. Listen to me... Jesus was not trying to develop a fear in people where they dwelt on the impossible nature of living with assurance. That is a mans interpretation of what Jesus was trying to teach. Jesus was talking about a desire and an understanding of our sin ... being able to be more aware of our sinfulness so that we were more gracious in our view of this life.
If you look at the ot idea of truth it is not like we think it is in our being taught by a greek philosophy. Truth in the ot was a holistic set of teachings that brought a person to focus on how God views other men. When a person did not understand the truth he was more than a liar but he was malicious... treacherous... his words had a bite to them... because it was the nature of the expression of truth that showed the mans heart was not rite. He told the pharisees they did not understand the weightier things of the law like mercy and unfailing kindness. Truth in the biblical sense is not exposure in the American vernacular.
We must understand that in our relationships we are cleared by a simple confession to God. This is why there is no accusations in a christian community. If a person is struggling with guilt the answer is not to do something but to be accepted like God accepts us who sin all the time. We actually grow by being weak. By being concerned for their welfare not their sin. But this is not the way it is in the world.

Exactly... every time we sin there is really nothing we need to do to get rite with God. Because Christ death has brought about a complete change. We went from being the children of wrath and a child of the Devil to being adopted as sons having access to the throne of God through Christ. We actually are granted completed forgiveness once for all in the atonement. Christ has spoken but we do not believe it. He said it is finished.
Why do we confess our sins? Is there a divine order that we cannot enjoy our salvation if we first do not confess our sins? Well this is not talking about a legalistic mandate in order to restore our relationship with God. This is talking about a natural attitude the believer has about his sin.
What good is it to trust in something that does not have power to obtain a goal in receiving what we desire if we are always thwarting our own manner of believing? Isnt the gospel of grace a positive affirmation of continued acceptance rather than an encouragement to be in a kind of holding period until we are free of the spell that God has cast on us because of His displeasure? May it never be! This is mans natural love of other gods. He loves magic. Most men have a mystical attention to some kind of special acceptance. They pride themselves in trusting in other men... or in doing something in order to get something from God. But it is a never ending cycle of self fulfillment and being deceived about what is real forgiveness. Any time we draw our fulfillment of a desire because we did something to get something from God we trample on the work of Christ. We are not only sinful but unbelieving as well.
What we need to see is the union with Christ has given us a purpose and a cause that cannot be discouraged or thwarted ... not even our sins. Those who want you to do something only want you to do it so that they create their own system of works for other men to be trapped in.

We are first in a battle with forces that we cannot see. This means that God grants us acceptance on the basis of a work that has already been completed. We look back and gain power by something that took place before our being born in sin. God gives us a new memory and Christ remembers through us.  If he held our sins against us then we would be crushed ... that is we would be a still born child. We would never even have a first breath. But God has designed it so that when we are born we can be saved from our sins . This is the plan and we cannot add to it.

This is why we confess our sins because we have a mandate to obtain our inheritance. We are on a conquest to take heaven by force. We are granted these precious promises and when we have a rite attitude about our sins these are ours in our amen. We are trained in grace to take our eyes off ourselves and to be aware of men who are practicing a form of godliness by denying the power! These are the falling stars in Jude who trample over the grace of God! There is no in between holding position in the christian faith. We move along by grace alone.

We are taught to spread our arguments before the Lord. There is always two sides to every dispute. Both sides usually have good points. But this is not like we are taught to dispute. When we come to the courts of heaven we must learn how to unlock the riches of God. Because He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. He sends hurricanes and we are made rich. He answers us with awesome deeds of righteousness. The reason that we have this kind of access is because we come as heirs of Jesus Christ. We come as owners of everything in the universe.

Now put on your thinking caps. What is it that keeps us from controlling the board rooms and the kings heart. Its our not understanding how to live as if we were who we are in an eternal sense. We first need to learn how to present ourselves before His throne. We must learn how to express ourselves in a way where we are transparent ... having the argument in a  passionate and convincing way ...being enabled to bring that to bear. Understanding how to curse as we are taught and having a sense of increasing power as we plead our cause. What we think translates to what we say and what we say translates into what will be granted on His behalf. This is why the bible puts so much premium on focus because this order of creation has been confused and we live in this confusion instead of a deep understanding of the way things are.

In our arguments we must listen to the response of the Judge. When we lay our case out before the judge of the universe we are going to get a wise revelation. The problem with us is we have a small faith. We see things that transpire and we learn reasons and concepts that has been passed down from one generation to another. But when we begin to argue in an understanding way then we get more detailed understanding of the the situations and we are not as easily deceived when we confront the situation. Listen to me a man who meditates on Gods word day and night knows more than his teachers.. .that is a fact. Because God grants the man wisdom in a personal sense.

Now then the facts are brought to our attention. We understand how convoluted things are ... then we begin to break down these strong holds. We grab a hold of the curses and we unlock the riches of God.
