You can take this godless man who does not think of God. Nor does he desire to seek God and talk about it in the context of Israel. And this is the other bad news. You can go through the religious ceremonies and exercises and be in complete denial of the existence of this life in God. You can do this as a matter of acceptance through these means. Look at this context. Its directed toward religious people. Some of these people were much more compliant than we are today.

This is why it is more than just the exercises of these means. Its seeking Gods face. Its understanding there is only one thing we do in all of life. Its realizing that we are confronted with a real Person. Not a set of principles. We communicate with the living God. We seek the living God.When can I go and meet my God? We find no solace in our own lives. Its only when we have found God that we experience all things right. We worship God longing for the goodness of God. We seek God longing to see the goodness of God more and more. We will not let Him go until He shows Himself a covenant keeping God.

The Psalmist says that he was worn out seeking God. Because there was so much resistance in society. He calls this resistance scorn. He was not thinking about his own potential of experiencing goodness because he acknowledges that he is a sinner and does not want any righteous man to suffer for his sins... i mean this is not his focus. But his focus in on what God has promised and the good that he does not understand. The Psalmist is looking at his position as a son and covenant member as being held back because of the low standard of grace not his return of obedience. In this opposition he complains about the scorn of others. This is longing for the Living God.

9 “Therefore I bring charges against you again,”
declares the Lord.
“And I will bring charges against your children’s children.
10 Cross over to the coasts of Cyprus and look,
    send to Kedar[a] and observe closely;
see if there has ever been anything like this:
11 Has a nation ever changed its gods?
(Yet they are not gods at all.)
But my people have exchanged their glorious God
    for worthless idols.
12 Be appalled at this, you heavens,
    and shudder with great horror,”
declares the Lord.
13 “My people have committed two sins:
They have forsaken me,
    the spring of living water,
and have dug their own cisterns,
broken cisterns that cannot hold water.
14 Is Israel a servant, a slave by birth?
Why then has he become plunder?
15 Lions have roared;
    they have growled at him.
They have laid waste his land;
his towns are burned and deserted.
16 Also, the men of Memphis and Tahpanhes
    have cracked your skull.
17 Have you not brought this on yourselves
by forsaking the Lord your God
when he led you in the way?
18 Now why go to Egypt
to drink water from the Nile?
And why go to Assyria
to drink water from the Euphrates?
19 Your wickedness will punish you;
    your backsliding will rebuke you.
Consider then and realize
how evil and bitter it is for you
when you forsake the Lord your God
and have no awe of me,”
declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty

The living water is a spiritual enjoyment of God through the covenant of grace. Because God has provided His people with all they need in the covenant they are required to glorify God as He is. For God has worked righteousness through the fathers. He covenanted with our father Abraham to bless those who bless us and curse those who curse us. The only requirement was faith. But Abraham considered himself wicked so that he might be justified by faith. Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness.

God is a God of promise. In this promise He has blessed us with all spiritual blessings. When we worship God we worship Him in spirit and in truth. So in approaching God we approach Him as sinners in need of mercy and grace. We receive mercy in our time of need.So we are the poor ones who are God faithful elect giving God the glory that He deserves as we remember the works of the Lord in delivering us in our time of need.

So we see God as always faithful.. full of mercy.. compassionate.. full of love and always forgiving. When we worship God as being good our hearts are enlarged to praise Him with music.. in word.. through enjoying Him. This is partaking in the life of Christ. It is taking refuge from self fulfillment and self effort and drinking at the fountain of Gods covenant of grace.

We make a distinction between the promises of the rich of the world and Gods provision. We deny that anything good comes from the hand of men. But we only look to Gods hand for when He opens His hand He fulfills the desires of all creatures. So in denying that we have the power of providing all creatures with good we are giving God His riteful creation of all things.

But the natural man does not think that God has provided all that he needs. Instead the natural man devises his own success. He does not think of the works of God but rather how he has provided the gifts for other people. He devises principles of success in which he becomes the example to follow. As he rises to the top other people follow him. He has defied God and will not think of God as the giver of all things. The natural man does not see the goodness of God so he has no reason to worship and glorify God. So he makes his philosophy of success a vital part of the society. He has covered of the wells that our forefathers have dug.

What does the natural man long for? He longs for the blessings of the nations. He replaces Gods manna and quail for the food from Egypt. In longing for the good things from being in bondage he rejects the truth that all things good come from the hand of God and he is saying that Gods ways are oppressive. The natural man then creates idols that he places before God. In not praising God he sets up his own gods.

What happens when he becomes powerful? He leads a whole generation away from God. Instead of longing for the spiritual drink of God in worship and focus he replaces this drink for earthly wells of the nations. He has sold his birth rite for a bowl of pottage.

In order for us to understand regeneration we must understand what God says about man. Because why would you give a person medicine if you did not know the disease? And this is what we see about sin. Its not just a miss application of truth or a miss step.. but its a curse. What is a curse. A curse is a pronouncement of death. So it can be a person who has a stigma of death.

Its like a man who does an heinous crime. It is so bad that people avoid its remembrance because its in the category of animalistic. And so this kind of sin marks a person in a special way. But in Gods view all sin is marked as obnoxious and unfathomable.

This is why God must condescend to us because we do not think sin is heinous. So God gives us a kind of vision of in sin in the communication of men. Its like the vampire tales. These vampires are deceived about their powers and think they can live forever. But there are curses that can destroy them. So they fear nothing in a moral sense. They really have no conscience to murder. They do not think the letter of the law is effective. But if you put a cross in their face .. or if you drive a stake in their hearts then they know how the law functions.

God has done the same thing with us. And we see that this curse is mysterious. Its part of the personal experiences we have with sin and death. No one thinks they are walking curses. Because they do not hear those curses in this society. They do not think that God can curse them in a second. Can pronounce death to them. But this is why salvation is impossible in human terms because no one can overturn these curses in the law.

The most personal effects are Gods communication to a man. This is done in a one on one scenario. I know that we can communicate love and connection to one another but i do not believe that it changes us unless God by His Spirit blesses it to our hearts. And its true that our view of God and ourselves is made plain enough for us to enjoy being filled with the Spirit. But God must also directly apply those energies and blessings to our hearts. So we are really most happy when we are most dependent on God.

This is why how we view things is what we apply to ourselves. Look at what David says.. the sacrifices of God are a broken and contrite heart... the sacrifices of God are thankfulness and praise. So you have this distinction here about what the true sacrifice is.Obviously you have the sacrifice of the animal. But the animal only represents a static request of forgiveness. It does not engage a person in striving to overcome in this life. It only reminds us of failure and sin. But this is not what we should be about fundamentally. We cant be in between sorrow and joy. This stuff must be our focus. Gods word is not just a promise that gives us forgiveness. But His word extends to the fundamental life that we enjoy in the future. So the sacrifices we look to the future with are His word and promises to do more than we could ask or think. The sacrifices are not Him reminding us of our enjoying forgiveness but they are reminding us of His unfailing love for us that extends in His promises to us that He will overcome through us. The Psalmist began to go beyond forgiveness to fellowship with God in all of these things.

What was this sacrifice of praise? It was a deliberate determination to not remember God as being a disciplinarian or a hard God. It was dwelling in the works of God from creation. Not only the national works of God but the personal deliverance. This is why it is dangerous to take these doctrines out of the conquest motif. Because we can make them doctrines in themselves in which we never go on to apply them as our medicine.

The physical markers did not give them a covenant relationship in Abraham. Rather these things were secondary. This is why the worship book talks about God being wearied by their sacrifices. They were bringing the right sacrifices but they also had idols...they were reciting the prayers but they also trusted in Moloch..they were looking to the stars for their messages. What God was teaching was not hard to avoid. It was spelled out in their worship doctrines.

They were not able to come to God through these outward sacrifices and laws. They were not able to please God by reciting the Torah. God cannot be know through human means. He must be known through the gospel of grace. And so we must focus and think about the covenant God gave to Abram rather than think that Abram was a mediator of the covenant. What was this covenant that God gave to Israel? It was a promise to be their God by providing all that they needed as a people to live on this earth. It started with God.

What did the people do? They forgot this God. They sought to reduce Gods glory by their own works. It was not that they were avoiding their responsibilities but they were seeking acceptance through these means. Because they failed to apply themselves to what God actually said.

Why did they miss understand Gods message? Because in the heart of man is corruption. Man takes what God says man turns Gods glory into shame. Man in his natural make up loves delusions and seeks false gods. What does God say of man? No one seeks God.. all have turned aside.. there is not one good no not one. So its easy for man to practice religion and yet live in delusions. How does man misrepresent such a simple message? Does he flat out reject the truth when he sees it? No man adds to Gods grace. Man devises evil schemes against God because man hates God.

Over and over again God says.. Your sacrifices are a stench in my nostrils. Your confessions of your worth before Me are scandalous. But God was saying...When you come to me you come as a sinner in need of grace. But they were thinking that their unblemished animal was fundamental to their acceptance. They were so focused on their attendance.. their ability to provide the rite sacrifice that they failed to see their sin. And so God comes to them through judgement and says "I will accuse you to your face. "

Yes i agree Gouda...we need to apply the doctrines of grace that are taught in the ot to the narrative. Because these doctrines are Gods laws, decrees, statutes, commands and promises taught to His people so they might know how to conduct themselves and prosper as a nation.

Over and over again the people were guilty of reducing what God was saying to physical markers. This is why you have so much interpretation in the ot Torah. They actually twisted the original words by their interpretations. The law was very simple and they made more laws ...what Jesus called mans laws to describe Gods laws. Sometimes when we try to simplify something we completely change the meaning.

People can be changed through being brainwashed. If you repeat something over and over again it becomes like truth. But the fundamental cause of wrong thinking is the difference between salvation or reprobation.. knowing God or denying that God exist. And so the main point of life is to understand what God says so that we might know how to live.

But man reduces the gospel by changing the order of salvation. As you see there is a clear difference between what i am saying and what Kk has been teaching. He says that law and grace are interrelated and I am saying they clearly are two different covenants even i cant remember the years... but they were separated from one another. The first been the covenant that God made with Abram.. this is the grace covenant. And then later the covenant given to Moses.. this is the law covenant. But we see that the rabbis twisted this teaching and taught a system of works.

If you look at the time of Jesus and see how the two sects of Rabbis was confronted by Jesus you will see this fundamental disagreement. And this is why the temple worship was no longer in the context of that worship that was in the days of David. The supernatural interaction of the prophetic utterance was on longer part of that culture. The urim and thummin giving them prophet utterance. Christ incarnation had replaced Gods presence on this earth. The temple worship was dead.

As i have been saying the fundamental disagreement is what part does works play with grace? Does works precede... go hand in hand  with grace? Or does grace give us ability and acceptance apart from works? Ive had disagreements with people you would not think would miss understand grace. But this one distinction is vital. Because it divides people into two groups. Those who try to reduce God by their teaching and those who seek to exalt God...one has a small God and the other has a big God. If in fact we can be accepted by our works then we can control God. But if our righteousness is as filthy rags then God is in charge. Its that simple.

We are spirit and flesh. These two interact in ways that describe who we are. I dont think we can just describe these as just walking on a road in life. But its not a physical relationship to the Trinity. So its an immediate effect. I guess we could say that its through desire but its also through desire in how we are effected physically. Our physical senses are led along by our spiritual desires. Thought comes before action. Or meta physical thought is action. We are not defined as what we do but who we are.

So we are made up of the potential to do more than we could ask or think. Because God actually dwells in us as a place of worship. We are the walking temples of the living God. I do not think that we can say that our physical limitations do not evidence our being the temple. We evidence the condition of our souls on the outside. There is a sense in which our personal presences goes before us as being in physical space. So we are in a sense what we think of ourselves as well as how we relate to others.

Naturally as a direction we image the perfect image. This is not just the experience between images but its the holistic experiences of life. Or it can be a life giving force. We call this the glory of God. And we are seeking to find all things to glorify God. We are drawn to life because it is essentially what we need to survive. It is the definition of our total strength of who we are. The apostle says that His power worked mightily through the apostle. What the apostle is talking about is that we have a much higher motive in this life to live it for the glory of the event. We are most happy when we have passed into the heaven-lies.

We set our affections on things above. Not only because of the command but because living life in its fullness is is when heaven meets our earthly experience. We are all body and spirit finding the glory in glorifying God. We define who we are in this world as image barriers enjoying Gods gifts in this timeless fashion. Because we do not look back at our old way of thinking. We are seated with Christ in this glorious image. To understand who we are and the purpose we have on this earth we must experience this higher purpose of seeing the glory.

cont.
If God did not look a society as a whole then all the individual choices we make would be abusive to us. And this is what happens when we look at a truth in without having the knowledge or the context of its importance to other truth.   We believe in grace. Because its an ability that we do not naturally possess to live with the most freedom as sinners among other sinners and yet have a God who is watching over us to slow the pace of depravity , and sometimes actually intervene on our behalf and deliver us on this earth.

Abuse is taking a truth and twisting it so that grace is redefined. People do seem to be under the influence of their own power... like using an atom bomb to take care of those fornicators. lol  This is defined in scripture as a person taking upon himself the powers that he is not authorized to take.

God is sovereign over all things. And yet He cannot deny Himself. God created life for His purpose and it is always good. He has given each person a desire to live. It is unnatural for someone to take their own life. In a sense even the expression of sin is out of a desperation of self preservation. So there are limits on the power of expression from creature to creator.

So i guess in a sense from the personal view we have of people that there are both good things and bad things about them. But just because one person seems to humans to be worse than another may not be what is true when we weigh all the reality both the hidden and what actually happens. Because the most damaging effect looks good in a religious sense. I mean any kind of destructive behavior or teaching is what is weighed by God.

I could sacrifice my child on the fire because thats what i believe the gods want. That desire that God implanted in me. I mean it could be from a motive of self preservation in believing that if i did not do it i would be in danger of death. But what about the destruction of an innocent child? God demands an accounting of taking a life of another human being. I mean outside of war. Because war is actually Gods method of bringing justice from heaven to earth on nations.

David had a lot of blood on his hands but it was legal and rite to do it. But it was murder in taking the life of Uriah. Why? Because it was in a civilian relationship. And you see the same kind of justice carried out by Solomon at the death of David upon Israels commanders who did these vigilantly acts.

But all of the wars were Gods wars. Israel was the least of the nations in terms of fighting forces. And this is why i stress a God who is in heaven and He works from the top down. There are reasons why God annihilates a whole city or population. Because God looks at abuse and not just the sin. And abuse always works from the top down. Man could destroy the whole human race.So we are looking at leaders doing things that affect the nation that violates the rites of the poor as Gods definition of deserving of punishment to a nation.

God foresees the future. He could have had Hitler aborted or destroyed as an infant. But He did not do it for reasons we do not understand. How can a human being who has such a small view of all the events that happen.. not only in one life time but as it relates to the dna of history understand what God understands? You know its foolish to not have all the information about a situation and make a judgement upon individual in which you would not want, made about yourself from impartiality. But you can be sure that God never acts from incomplete knowledge or impartial knowledge. And those events that seem to be unjust may be in the dna of history the reason that you are living and enjoying your freedom. God exist through all generations and no one can thwart His power.

The ot teaches the nt gospel of grace. At the giving of the law when the people made a covenant to keep the law or the blood of the curses would be upon them.. that was a desire and not a reality. Its not wise to interpret these passages without first learning the doctrines taught in the wisdom and poetry books. In these worship books the ot law is not different from the nt law. Both of these saints naturally when confronted with the law because of their understanding that they are shielded from the curses by grace.. conclude that there is nothing dangerous about confessing that they do not keep the law.
I think its very dangerous to group people as an identity of physical circumcision. Then say that they are in between the curses of the law and blessings of the covenant. But we see that circumcision means nothing when we are talking about salvation. From the time that Abraham was given the covenant of grace these ot saints who were also given the law covenant enjoyed complete freedom from the curses because of the grace covenant. Christ death did not make the curses different in the nt from the ot. But they were looking forward to Christ death and we are looking back. They still had complete protection from the curses of the law.

The apostle is not just giving us a potential to enjoy all things. But he is saying that those things are under our power. So its not what Kk says that its potentially good if we are not addicted. But we are identified with Christ and because we have atonement when we fail...power through word and Spirit... and we are not longer under the curse of the law then we all of these things are Gods blessings to us.

God did not just give us all these things in a universal sense and then say dont be under their power. Kk seems to think that God gave us a potential to enjoy these things if we exercise constraint. But we believe that God gave us all things as gifts so the purpose of enjoying them is for His glory. We already are blessed to enjoy them. We no longer have the potential to be cursed under their power.

But if we still sin... If we still lust..if we still partake of them too much are we going to be cursed? No because we enjoy Gods forgiveness. This is why the apostle says we were washed .. we were sanctified. Hes not saying that we do not practice these things any more . Hes saying that we were given a gift of full sanctification through Christ imputation of righteousness. So the ot describes it as Christ doing the work before we do it.

But if we are washed then why do we still do these things? Because we need a daily washing. This is what Christ was teaching when He washed the disciples feet. He was teaching them that having been already washed when they were saved yet they needed a daily cleansing. How does this cleansing happen? Well it is not a process but its because God gifts us with not remembering our sins. God is reminded by His covenant promises not to hold our sins against us. And so i am not giving grace and then taking it back like Kk does.

Let me get tough here. I find that people who discuss the law as if its their friend. And they use it every chance they get in their connection with others need to see that the law does not give us an advantage over others. It kills its victims. The law not only pronounces the judgement but it justly gives us the reasons by cursing the sinner. So if we are playing fast and loose with the law over others we do not see its real danger.

You know that the only remedy for the curses is to be in grace. So really its not how you confess your sin.. what you say that is gonna make God more accepting of you. Christ has already taken care of all your sin. Because to say that your confession earns you forgiveness is claiming that the law is not as dangerous as God says it is and to act as if you are the one who can remove the curse by your confession. And in doing this you live a miserable life because you do not see salvation as being delivered from the curses. You will never know true blessing. You must make a deliberate break from your old way of thinking.

The bible does not make distinctions between sins we do over and over again and sins we do not have trouble with in light of the atonement. But we are focused on a goal. Its the goal of faith. I am always weary of a person who speaks as if he confesses all his known sin every day like sin is just something we do. And in this society where we have a lot of staged public personalities it becomes even more of a distant counsel in experiencing the forgiveness of sin and the healing of a wounded heart.

We are in a kind of love starved society. And God always loves us first before He makes us assured of His full atonement. This is what is so confusing about a false connection of this sort of society. Because the love of many has waxed cold. So we find that there is a lot of inner anger. This is why when we think things that make us feel separated from the love of God we sort of lose hope that the gospel is first good.

I find that a person who is very dogmatic about outward sin is not so eager to talk about it in a health doctrine since. After all there are more warnings to teachers than average christians. Because you can teach a very strong view of dealing with sin and yet also teach something about the doctrines of grace that is not historically accurate. Because the society is so ingrained in this public display we seldom see the terrible denial of this awful sin. Because no one wants to challenge a well known teacher. And yet Jesus says that these sins that misrepresent grace are worse. He tells the Pharisees that the prostitutes and the adulterers are gonna enter the kingdom before you. And really what Christ was saying is that they thought their sins were small compared to those big sins. And yet Christ actually reversed the order.

I see this as the worse denial of responsibility and its a normal human condition. We are easily meg-lo maniacs. Especially if there is a miss understanding in the application of the atonement. A person may be very orthodox about the atonement and not have experience in dealing with sin and sinners. The telling denial is when they place their dogmatic stance over relationship. You get close enough to a person and you will be really surprised.  lol

What are we saying here? We are saying that sin is our friend because without it we would not find grace. We could never know real forgiveness .This is why Christ said its those who are sinners that love the most. Why do sinners love the most? Because the worse the sin is the more forgiveness is needed and the more gifted acceptance is experience in that transaction. So what are we saying? If grace is the only answer then no matter what we believe about our sin is not gonna make grace more available. It simply is applied to ongoing sin and it does the work necessary for us to be accepted. This is why God loves us to be accepted by grace.

5 This is what the Lord says:

“What fault did your ancestors find in me,
that they strayed so far from me?
They followed worthless idols
    and became worthless themselves.
6 They did not ask, ‘Where is the Lord,
who brought us up out of Egypt
and led us through the barren wilderness,
through a land of deserts and ravines,
a land of drought and utter darkness,
a land where no one travels and no one lives?’
7 I brought you into a fertile land
to eat its fruit and rich produce.
But you came and defiled my land
    and made my inheritance detestable.
8 The priests did not ask,
    ‘Where is the Lord?’
Those who deal with the law did not know me;
    the leaders rebelled against me.
The prophets prophesied by Baal,
    following worthless idols.

These Israelites where bringing their daily sacrifices. They were going to the temple to worship. But look what the verdict is about the nation of Israel. Why was their religious lives so detestable to the Lord? Because salvation is an understanding and confession of trusting in the word of the Lord. Not in the things themselves. In fact God says all those sacrifices that your bringing ... those animals i created. All the transference of monies ... "I own the cattle on a thousand hills." What was God bringing a charge for if they obeyed these outward means of grace? Because fundamentally they were going through the motions. They were trusting in Abraham.. in their circumcision. They really had never been converted.
But this way of salvation was not a mystery. They were given the oracles of God. They were given the laws and decrees. .the statutes and the commands. But they never believed in their own sin and the need for righteousness. They worshiped a God that was so exalted they did not believe He could be known.
You know you cant be as orthodox as they were in the ot and never understand real grace. Thats why grace is described in detail in the doctrinal and worship sections. But its so easy to add to the gospel. Its so easy to bring in another teaching that is equal. Its so easy to leave the road and go on side roads. Unconverted people do not see the difficulty it is to hold to the doctrines of grace. They just assume because they are going through the motions.. confessing a creed ..taking part in the organized religious functions that these things are the fundemental means of grace.

But this is not true. What does the bible say? These things are very simple. There is only one Gospel. Its  Word and Spirit. Its justification by faith. And so we become difficult in order that we may defend this very simple gospel.

But this is not the purpose of unregenerate people. They make things difficult so they might make the sacrifices themselves added to grace. They might create a way to God for acceptance through their particular moral teaching. But God says that man is born to think that he can be righteous as an example for all men to follow.

But the generation of the righteous teach the works of God. A righteous generation has been saved by the word and Spirit of God. So they have a desire to please God. What is this desire? Its a focus on the ways of the Lord throughout all history. But it is impossible for man to delight in the former ways of the Lord unless the Lord causes them to find all of their happiness in Gods works. This is what we call being redeemed by God.

In redemption God causes men to see that He alone provides them with all that they need. He regenerates man... He causes men to delight in His ways... to reform to the old ways of worship.. so that his elect glorify Him because they have a desire that gives them spiritual sight to see Him as all glorious. Because they seek to glorify God then they begin to see that all of life is Gods gracious privileging them with gifts. These gifts are His promise that He will do according to who He is. This means that a regenerate man cannot help but seek this God. If someone gave you all that you needed to live.. be happy.. find satisfaction in HIm.. then you would be His special servant. You would carry on this relationship in experiencing salvation through His substitution. Why are you happy? Because He is the fountain of all joy... In His light you see light...He is the answer to all of lifes difficulties.

Why is He all in all? Because He provides not only the ability for the saint to experience His care but He actually goes out before the saint and walks that perfect road. That path of completed acceptance and righteousness. Christ did all the work and provides the blessing freely.

But how does a person miss all of this partaking of Christ spiritual gifts? He remains in an unregenerate state. He lives by His moral principles. He demands that every man follow his way of success. He threatens anyone who opposes his high position. This man has no desire to see grace. This man lives by his own righteousness. He does not even think thoughts after God. This man acts all religious but in his heart he really has never been drawn out of himself to see the value of Gods gifts. He believes that the success he has was because he worked hard for it. This man is full of idols because he is barren in his understanding
Gods word and Spirit.

I was praying with a lot of passion yesterday . I mean i was calling upon the our Father to send the angel of the Lord. Now if you want to deny that all scripture is profitable then do not swear by what i say. There is no excuse for declining in religion like we have. Shoot you hardly ever hear about regeneration any more. I hardly ever hear wisdom explained. Instead i hear a kind of universal moral ism of covenant theo.
The doctrines of grace are so clearly spelled out that there is no excuse. God has given us a message that is clear and forces people to look away from the law.. good works...the physical things like the cup.... i mean about this ..we approach the cup like Christ approached evil. This is where love and faithfulness meet together...where righteousness and justice kiss each other.  We pronounce judgement upon the earth when we take that cup. It is the only place in scripture where a physical element is said to pronounce a curse upon a traitor.

Now listen to me... anyone who wants judgement is not listening to the doctrines of grace. Wanting judgement is like touching a dead corpse. In taking the cup we avoid touching the dead things. But its more than this... its longing to avoid the plight of the reprobate. Its a confession that we oppose those who wish evil judgement upon us. Its a focus that is salvation. Every day we wish to avoid the eternal judgement of the wicked. We pronounce salvation as our way and we build conviction that we will not fail. And so the cup really is not the physical elements but its the heart and soul of cursing and blessing.

But wisdom has a description that has a string line going through it. Its like beads on a rope. All the beads described perfectly force us to avoid error about these words of grace. But if we are drowning in describing these things in terms of horizontal relationships, physical things ... and focusing on our own obedience than we in essence do not understand the string line.

I wanted to talk about the Revelation ..prayer.. and how it affects the events of this earth but i will save it.

Legalism: Legalism could be definied as any attempt to rely on self-effort to either attain or maintain our justification before God. In Paul's Epistle to the Galatians he warned them sternly about such false understandings of the gospel when he asked the offenders: "After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?" (Gal.3:3). Legalism always seems to have one thing in common: it's theology denies that Christ is completely sufficient for salvation. That some additional element of self-effort, merit or faithfulness on our part is necessary to maintain a just standing before God. As an example, those who erroneously teach that a Christian can lose his or her salvation are, in essence, denying the sufficiency of Christ to save to the utmost. They believe their sin to be greater than Christ's grace. But we affirm that Christ's righteousness, which he counts toward us, is not only efficient for our salvation, but sufficient. His once for all sacrifice put away sin for all time in those He has united to Himself. His salvation also means that he not only saves at the beginning but preserves us to the end, sealing us in His perfect righteousness whose blood "reminds the covenant God" not to treat us as our sins deserve. Any attempt to add our covenant faithfulness as part of the price of redemption after regeneration is an "attempt to attain our goal by human effort" and thus a complete misapprehension of the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We must, therefore, reject any and all attempts to maintain a judicial standing before God by any act on our part. Salvation is of the Lord. - J. Hendryx

A Definition of Legalism
1. Using the Mosaic covenant as though it is the covenant between you and God.
2. Attempting to be justified by one's own works.
3. Attempting to be sanctified by one's own works
4. Suggesting that our worth or worthlessness, our self-esteem and self-satisfaction or lack thereof, rest on our own works.
5. Any attempt to please God judicially, or any supposition that our sin as believers has resulted in his judicial displeasure. [Any post-salvation attempt to maintain our judicial standing before God through good works, covenant faithfulness, merit etc..]
6. Teaching that we conform ourselves to our judicial standing in Christ (righteous and perfect) by our own works.
7. Attempting to attain godliness by a systematic change of behavior
8. Obedience that does not spring from a renewed heart
a. As of an unbeliever who has no renewed heart
b. As of a believer who has a renewed heart but whose righteous behavior does not spring therefrom.
9. Any supposition that externally righteous acts have any value on their own, even as conduct that prepares the way for either
a. A renewed heart (preparationism as regards justification),
b. The softening or further renewing of an already renewed heart (preparationism as regards sanctification. Note Romans 12:2-Transformation occurs through the renewing of the mind), or
c. Any other work of the Spirit.
10. Suggesting that faith is irrelevant in the accomplishment of some (or all) good works.
11. Trying to be justified by works that are created and inspired by the Holy Spirit.
12. Attempting to gain assurance of salvation solely or primarily on the basis of the sign of outward works.

2 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem:

“This is what the Lord says:

“‘I remember the devotion of your youth,
how as a bride you loved me
and followed me through the wilderness,
    through a land not sown.
3 Israel was holy to the Lord,
    the firstfruits of his harvest;
all who devoured her were held guilty,
    and disaster overtook them,’”
declares the Lord.
4 Hear the word of the Lord, you descendants of Jacob,
    all you clans of Israel.

Theres no two line here. In the early days Israel had more converted citizens than unconverted. Because of this they were blessed and the nations who opposed them were cursed. The first fruits were the choicest example of life. In other words they were like the vine growing over the hills and into the gates.

How were they obedient? By their devotion. Every person who is born again .... has been regenerated not by physical circumcision but by a spiritual circumcision are devoted to the Lord. A natural man does not desire to seek God. So instead of seeking God...thinking thoughts after God...calling upon the name of the Lord...coming to God as a sinner...confessing that he does not have the strength to glorify God but that God alone deserves all the glory... persevering through sin.. rejection... through unbelief ... and struggling with idols ...either one of these is true character of the elect. So this charge against the nation of Israel is not directed toward the elect.

But the elect are identified with the glory of God and the worship of God in the nation. So this is the center of the health of the whole nation. When the temple is corrupted ...there are unsaved people in positions of power... then its a reflection of the nation as a whole. I do not think the people can control this. But its just a natural declension that goes on through all earthly kingdoms. No earthly kingdom will endure forever. Only Christ will rule. And He proves that He alone deserves the glory as King by showing that all nations come and go.

So the elect are swept up in the judgement. The prophet speaks both blessing and cursing. God responds by protecting His elect and His prophets while at the same time as we see here .. He actually has already signed the prosecution notice of judgement and is proceeding to read the verdict. The elect are thrown out of the temple and the locust are starting to descend upon the nation to eat the souls of the reprobates.

Salvation is simply knowing the love of God. All of salvation is secure because of the love of God. So the love of God supersedes any thing we go through. It is the reason that we can always have hope no matter what we are going through...no matter what sin we have committed.

The love of God stands apart from our sorrow and anxiety because its Gods communication of Himself in spite of who we are or what we have done. There is only one reason that we can appeal to God for anything. Its that He loves us and wants to hear us appeal to Him simply by asking Him to prove His love to us by answering us.

This is why God deals with us in a relationship. Because His love for us never wavers or changes. He always loves us. He loves us so much that He has extended His acceptance to us by promising that He will always love us. He desires for us to appeal to Him because of His eternal and unchangeable love. There is only one way to understand what we are experiencing in the inward parts. Its to be bold in asking Him to answer us because of His love. When we look away from ourselves after we have unburdened out trials and problems we roll that over by our confidence that He will answer us out of His love.

There is no amount of asking that can make Him impatient with us because He decides Hes not gonna love us. His love is beyond the gifts that we think are best for us. He answers us bountifully because we believe that His love is greater than we could ever obtain in its fullness. We grow in wisdom and understanding when His love grows so that His goodness over powers any doubt we have about ourselves and our trials. We are stout hearted because He loves us more than we could offend Him knowing that we are free because He loves us more than we think we need to mature.

Jeremiah 1
4 The word of the Lord came to me, saying,

5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew[a] you,
    before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. ”
6 “Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”

This is a reference to Psalms 139 and this is a call to declare judgment.
"If only You would slay the wicked ..away from me you blood thirsty men".....This is God setting apart His elect from the corruption of a society. The principle is that men in rejecting Gods word devise wicked schemes against the poor and helpless. Because they do not believe that Gods word is purified seven times. And so they speak as if they own their lips. But what does the righteous man do? If these foundations are being destroyed where can the righteous get protection from these wicked schemes? God is in His temple ..He hears the cries of His poor ones. The call of the elect is to appeal to God on behalf of those who are abused.

So this is a man who acts as a high priest fills his mouth with the word of God in prayer. Who does he appeal to? The Lord Most High. This is rising up of passion with arguments of Gods word and in extolling the Lord it becomes a face to face appeal.  The Lord Most High rules over all the kings of the earth. This is the Sovereign Lord or the Lord who decrees victory in the time of trouble. The elect have only one place to go. Here Jeremiah has been appealing to the Sovereign Lord to judge the nations and those who are traitors to the covenant.

This appeal is for the protection of the vital parts of the saint. The Sovereign Lord controls the desires of all men. Now this prophet is very dangerous because the Sovereign Lord has responded. And this means that heads are gonna role.. but the actions are strictly from the Lord Himself. This is like spiritual hand to hand combat when the Sovereign Lord is appealed to.  In his appeal the saint is drawn into a kind of anguish as tho he feels the evils of the society that has lost its foundations.

When we see this title we understand that this man is acting as prosecutor and has been daily going before the tribunal of God to set things in order.

The Lord knew Jeremiah... that is a covenant statement. Which is the Lord declaring to the prophet that God will be faithful to the prophets appeals.

7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.

We see first the Lord declares His word as sure and faithful because it is a covenant word. The only sure word is Gods word in our seeking Gods favor. No other word is acceptable. Its a command. To seek salvation is also personal. Its not just to find refuge in God in a national sense. And so we see that God is promising that He will be faithful to Jeremiah in reminding him that God always hears the cries of the saint and the promise is to rescue him. So the saint wants to hear the word of salvation spoken loud and clear. When we roll the troubles over to the Lord we receive assurance that we will be saved. We may not see it for awhile but one assurance and rest leads to more confidence and focus. The day of victory will come if we do not give up.

9 Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth. 10 See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”

Now this is interesting because as i have been saying that filling our mouths with legitimate curses is the words that are put in the prophets mouth. This prophet is not receiving new revelation but he is applying himself to these promises of the covenant. The only way to have peace is to reduce wicked man to knowing they are just men.

This hand of God is the hand of success. This is the same thing as seeking salvation from God alone. It is an appeal for the Lord to reach down His right hand and deliver the prophet. This is a promise to be exact in judgment according to the prophets words from wisdom of applying these arguments of Gods word.

11 The word of the Lord came to me: “What do you see, Jeremiah?”

“I see the branch of an almond tree,” I replied.

12 The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.”

The branch is God reestablishing order and justice after judgement. This is God ruling over generations. God is the eternal judge who has existed through all generations. He is reminding Jeremiah that He will reestablish a righteous generation. So we see that Gods word is as successful as God existing through all generations. He will establish Himself as the ruler because there is no man who has the power to thwart Gods purposes.

13 The word of the Lord came to me again: “What do you see?”

“I see a pot that is boiling,” I answered. “It is tilting toward us from the north.”

14 The Lord said to me, “From the north disaster will be poured out on all who live in the land. 15 I am about to summon all the peoples of the northern kingdoms,” declares the Lord.

“Their kings will come and set up their thrones
    in the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem;
they will come against all her surrounding walls
and against all the towns of Judah.
16 I will pronounce my judgments on my people
because of their wickedness in forsaking me,
in burning incense to other gods
and in worshiping what their hands have made.

God says that He has a cup. This cup of the Sovereign Lord gets filled up with the wickedness of evil rulers. In the cup is a self inflicted judgment. God says that He pours it out and all these evil rulers drink it down to its very dregs. In other words they are personally involved as if their desires to overthrow God will succeed. But in drinking down that wicked abuse they actually are drinking their own judgement.

17 “Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified by them, or I will terrify you before them.

This is our call. Tho an army besiege the elect they will not stand. Tho war break out against the elect even then will we be confident. Because God in His covenant proves Himself faithful to us.

18 Today I have made you a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall to stand against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests and the people of the land. 19 They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord. This i believe is a response to Psalm 144 in verse 9 also

Now this is interesting again. God promise the elect to surround them on every side. The walls are a spiritual refuge as if the city was prospering and there was not a cry in the streets.. there were no breaching of the walls. Here the prophet is protected in being given confidence to go before God and continue to bring his appeal waiting for the word of deliverance.

I hate to predict doom but the odds are getting stacked against a revolutionary change and returning to the old economy. We probably are gonna slow it down ..but eventually the dollars printed are gonna slowly erode confidence in the american economy. Remember this is all borrowed money. And there is never a time in history were we have had a fundamental reversal of government.

I do not think we have felt the full effects of this change. But its coming in a year or so. Unless the states can somehow shield their people from abuse ..which will end up in an economic disaster .. the force will undo us. lol The problem is that the people. And when people are destructive its a hopeless situation. You cant change the most powerful agent in destruction and that is the human will of a fool. So even tho you try to introduce protection through legislation ..its a pipe dream that its gonna bring back the free exercise of individualism.

You know it really doesnt matter how things are in this world actually. Because we as christians are just as efficient going negative as positive. We can curse the curses or we can bless those who bless us. Both lead to a sense of the majesty of God and putting our lives in His hands. And the more we actively seek to use the means the more we are gonna be rewarded on the other side.

This is what Revelation warns about. The smoke rises it does not descend. Evil nations are like the smoke rising from the shaft of the abyss. This abyss is the place where Apollyon resides. This angel who opposes all that God does. So actually the fallen angel at some point is let loose to create disaster on the earth when nations evil begins to rise up to the heavens like the depravity of smoke.

God of course uses the ways of evil rulers as the means of judgement upon them. lol And so you have the locust who appear as Gods judgement of self afflicted suicide. Its interesting that God judges from the top down. So those rulers and rich will be destroyed before the people who do not repent of the worship of demons.. the idol worship ...etc. Its an amazing evidence of Gods ruling the earth.

The solas are simply Gods gracious gifts to us as an ability to think correctly. We believe that because He is faithful in the exercise of these means that we overcome all opposition. These solas are as real as we know them intimately and personally in our living in salvation. We not only say that salvation is justification by faith but we say that salvation is the solas.

These solas are not active agents but they are a foundation of faith. Faith is the exercise of these foundational qualities. We obtain faith by the word of God alone. The word of God is Gods new creation of giving Himself to us. God has chosen according to His immutable will to save us and keep us from falling. Faith is trusting in God alone. Faith is an active determination to see the word of salvation accomplished in our lives by overcoming all opposition.

But we cannot overcome if we look to other people.. to other remedies... to other philosophies or to just any counsel... or counsel that is equal to the word of God. We must look to Christ alone. Because the exercise of our faith is not in the principles themselves but the object is a Person. This is why a saving faith has the component of the word becoming alive in us. The word is not in the letter but it is a spoken word. Christ says... My sheep hear my voice and they follow me. He doesnt say My sheep hear my voice and they have an option to follow me. But His word is an ability to do as He says in His time. This is why He says without Me you can do nothing.

What does He mean without Him we can do nothing? Well we must be free to act. How are we free? Not by Him providing us with a way but by Him actually doing the work in our place. He says i work and they work. God from before the foundation of the world has decided to redeem some people from the slavery of sin and corruption and from themselves. He has determined that redemption is His work alone. Well this redemption is just like the ability to be accepted. He applies this redemption to us and then He covenants with us to work this redemption out throughout our lives until we receive our full salvation. This redemption includes all the promises in the covenant of grace. It includes all the gifts we receive in our salvation... the ability to enjoy them and the success we have in using them.

Why is redemption so important? Because it is the only way that we enjoy grace. Its the only way that we understand true freedom. Redemption gives us access to living according to His power because we know that He has already done all the work and has been successful. This is our enjoyment of resting from our own works. We actually work better when we rest in His work. We actually become free when we know that He has already gone out in front of our path and done all the work so that it cannot fail. This is what the whole Republic system of law is built on. Its the rites of people to work being protected from abuse out of a true understanding of Gods ability that is defined as the fear of God.

Let me talk about Gods desire and will. These are one and the same. God cannot desire something He does not will. Thats like saying i choose something i do not want. So it is absolutely essential that we embrace the whole gospel.

You remember the when the gospel was discussed they had not received the Spirit in a new covenant sense. And so they had not completely turned away from the ot rituals. Now i do not agree that prior to this they thought the ot rituals could save them. They just did not actually enjoy that new ground that was provided through Christ work as past. They were still back to God dealing with one nation but Christ had extended Gods salvation to the ends of the earth. Instead of ending the conquest God actually extended it and provided more spiritual power to accomplish His work. How did He do this ? By sending the Spirit in a new way. So the nt actually became the ot revealed. God who dwelt on the earth .. establishing His rule through Israel actually dwells in us in a more powerful way. His kingdom which throne in the third heaven is opened up to us in the Revelation. We have a glimpse of the new world.

And this is our fight. Its with the forces that are universal and not the nations that rise up against Israel. Because how our prayers and pleas work is brought into the new covenant light. Its described in Revelation that we are seeking a ruler ship that is greater and far above our work here. We have these means that have eternal significance. Our using them gives us a ruler ship that is future. We no longer look at land as just what we have here but we will inherit the whole world. How do we do this? By engaging ourselves in this conquest to overcome in this life.

God has given us a motive to excel so that we become something we are promised in the future identity that we enjoy now. We live in another mindset with visions of a new heaven and earth. We seek to overcome our present adversity that will provide us with the experience and exalted position in the new world. We actually have the kingdom of God in us. The new identity with a new commander.. a new Savior.. looking to a far country... envisioning our rule on the other side. We are more and more losing our ties to this present evil world.

Let me discuss the curses because this is not usually a subject i hear about in any real teaching. I will gladly make a confession where there is solidarity ... and i know people who see what i see.. so there is a blessed united trust in what i am saying in the universal sense.

But our belief is simply a confession that those who are enemies of God are our enemies.. Christ says if they persecuted me that will persecute you also. The ot principle is that we do not stray because we are always in the position of the need of help because we are always being misunderstood. Gods people believe things that are really free because God acts in the recreation of all things.. so its extremely difficult to always confess in the face of unbelief that God is sovereign. lol

Now see your interpreting these narratives from a book of traditions.. or flipping your bible from one section of scripture to another. But i am interpreting these from memory and it forms my mind as to these pathways of grace. And so i gladly lay down my rebel tendencies to create a dichotomy just because its the talk of the day and i swear by salvation by grace.

Now we got to understand that there are two kinds of curses. And ive never heard someone teach this correctly. Maybe one time i heard a Rabbi mention this. "Curse the curses". But actually there is the wicked curses and curses from the law.. or those who are Gods friends are friends of those who are Gods friends. And we must always determine this by the way of thinking.. communicating.. what is trusted in.. and how we share in on spirit in our fellowship. So i have followed the proper .. the normal.. the logical.. and the true way of interpretation by starting with the clear teaching of doctrine.

So there is a hidden relationship of the curse that only God can see. To try to understand how these curses apply is to try to figure out who is part of the elect. And the reason that its important to teach two curses is so that we do not play fast and loose in the threats to those who are living in a blessed state. Understanding the curses is absolutely essential to understanding the covenant because God promises curses on those outside the covenant from one generation to another. God hates fathers who are outside of the covenant relationship. He is not joking around. What he warns about is exactly how the movers and shakers of covenant faithfulness understand this distinct blessing. There is no in between circumcised member who enjoys Gods blessing. Because God deals with men face to face. "I will accuse you to your face"... "because you thought I was like you". Or you failed to think thoughts after God so you do not know Me. You failed to seek My face.

And so the wicked path which is a reprobate man of the world and also the traitor to Gods grace are described with such detail in the doctrinal sections that to know God is to have an understanding of this wisdom. Grace is clearly described so that we know it goes beyond an act of obedience.. joining a group of people... saying a prayer... reciting a creed. Grace is laying down your rite to think outside of Gods words. But this is impossible without regeneration. So the work is Gods work alone.

The gospel is a gospel of God. The God of all glory who dwells in inapproachable light has decided before hand to save some men. He established this promise through a covenant of grace. This is a one sided covenant because its a promise to establish His elect through His immutable will. Salvation is in God alone. There is nothing about us there.

But its evidenced in our response to the gospel. Our work is to believe in the one who sent Him. This is why we have a promise to sinners and not the righteous. Because we do not intrinsically have the righteousness of Christ. But we are declared righteous in the courts of heaven. Our plea is not our covenant obedience but rather His grace and mercy. We only have one foundation of confidence that He loves us with an unfailing love.

Now there are people who take this covenant teaching and twist it. This is what is so destructive about religion. Because there is only two options in this world. There is salvation by grace or salvation by works. This relationship to grace is taught so that its clear for us to understand. When God covenants with His elect because it is irrevocable He has given not only the terms of the covenant but He has provided a successful way for us to fulfill those terms. Now this is where people get really confused. This is where people begin to depart from grace. We see this with the problems that Joshua had where he tells them "Choose you this day whom you will serve." In other words we believe its not a clear choice between two equals. No one believes that salvation is all of grace at the beginning and then it is determined by us.

We never teach equilibrium free will. Rather if it is of grace then we are to stand in grace and not turn to our own devices. This is why circumcision could not save any one. Because it was a human work. Circumcision does not equal semi pelagenism. It does not make people able to choose to be saved. It is not regeneration. There is a clear warning in scripture about the church in the ot having two kinds of members. The reason that the ot warns of those traitors is not because of sin.. or being part of the visible church and not taking these things to heart... but its the attitude of unthankfulness and not believing in the gospel of grace.

This is why covenant theology is upside down from any works system. Because its so simple and easy that its impossible for an unregenerate person to rest in. Saving faith gives us a lock safe trust because we always fall back on grace.. or the work already accomplished at the cross. It is only those who look to other remedies that are traitors to the covenant.

You can teach a system of doctrine but its which doctrines are the main doctrines. The main doctrines are the doctrines of grace. And the way you can lessen their importance is to make salvation a matter of the things themselves. It is very easy to talk about the insignificant things of the faith which is usually the elements themselves or the physical activity of worship.

And any system that has a chain of command is potentially an abusive system. Because our natural tendency is to place importance in the office rather than grace. Its easy to place importance in the elements themselves in place of grace. Its easy to feel acceptable doing the physical act of worship rather than being convinced that its by grace alone.

And so there are portions of scripture that explain other portions. There is the doctrinal sections... explaining the doctrines of God.. what worship is supposed to be... and who we are. These sections explain the narrative.. the commands... and the types.

In the ot we have the wisdom books and poetry books. These books are like the nt doctrinal sections of the letters to the churches. And you see the same style in the nt when you come to the narrative of the Acts and other sections where the apostle is discussing real relationships with he coworkers in the spread of the gospel.

The ot narrative is not just an historical writing but its under the authority of the doctrinal sections. The phrases... the explanations of how God dealt with the people in the narrative are all written in a way that paraphrases these wisdom books...uses "charged" words in how God dealt with the people by how it is explained in the wisdom books. And this is the reason that we see a very big emphasis on seeking wisdom..Its not just for our daily guidance in this world but it determines how we interpret the rest of scripture.

This is exactly how we are enabled to judge the context according to our understanding of salvation in being able to distinguish between the important things and the lesser things. Because we really are not allowed to explain the text with our own concepts.

Our natural tendency is to get tunnel vision. You see this with anyone who miss applies grace. They begin to reduce all their explanations to one rule. Because grace is the only real application of a truth from many different angles. Just like a prism. Grace teaches us more than a system of doctrine. It produces life. Grace goes beyond the explanation of the word to a description of a way of life through understanding who Christ is.

This is what ive been saying about doctrine. These ot doctrinal sections give us a healthy view of God and then we understand the total application of who we are. In other words these worship books begin to produce life in us through practicing going from word to Person.  This is what the apostle was praying for that we would be strengthen ... not by a physical relationship to our sacrifices or the words we use in worship...but we would be strengthened in the inner man.

We must understand that we come to a personal encounter with God our Father. We go beyond the things themselves. We actually go beyond the word and fellowship with a Person. Ive been explaining this as learning to be transparent before God. The old guys used to say that the Spirit would witness with our spirits and then we cry Abba Father. So the word leads us to Christ and Christ leads us to the Father. There are places in the Psalms ...its kind of like musing... but the Psalmist is talking about his experience and then the figure of speech demands us to envision the Psalmist looking away from his audience with a stare into space as he is so lost in wonder that he almost begins to speak as if someone was directing his tongue. This is the vision of going from the word to the Person.

Ive had many experiences. Sometimes i feel as if i cant keep my feet on the ground .. that i am going to levitate with a vision of Revelation as if i am so close to being where i have so often pondered. There is a sense that if i meditated and prayed one more time i would be consumed in a glorious wonder that would consume me. And this is what we must understand before we even attempt to try to interpret some of these narratives. We must learn how to go from the word to the Person. We must know when we talk about application what that experience is like. We must not reverse this order of interpretation.

But not all men repent. But your the one saying that the potential is in man to repent. But i do not see three groups in the final judgement. I only see those who repent and those who do not repent. And this is exactly why we Calvinist are accurate and you add your own wish which has not value.

Ive explained this reconciliation in terms of the world... all men..everyone... these words are used in the context where its impossible for it to be rendered everyone literally. As i have shown in the case of John the Baptist it says that everyone in that region that John was preaching was baptized. Obviously the Pharisees who came daily to mock and threaten John were not baptized. So the word must be taken into context.

Most of the verses your quoting are directed to a specific church where the teaching is being directed at the saints. And this is the context of the nt teaching about world and all men. If you go to revelation it says that Christ purchased.. past tense ... and His action alone ... men from every tribe, people , nation, and language. So the world in the nt context is the gospel going beyond the nation of Israel to the gentiles.... and these gentiles are called in the epistles the elect of God.

In Revelation the context makes it plain when the saints together with the elders praise God saying... "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne and to the Lamb... Salvation is God bringing glory to Himself by choosing a people for Himself... thats why i do not quote verses like a machine gun because they have a context.

The context is Christ preparing judgement over evil governments and religious institutions. And the seven horns are simple Christ ruling the nations. There are 7 seals.. trumpets all of which are His actions to bring about judgement and reconciliation through avenging His elect.
The seven spirits are Gods response to these 7 sins..or its when the scale of abuse on rulers and leaders becomes unbearable. God collects the prayers of the saints. The living creatures before the throne who cry holy holy holy also cry woe woe woe. These woes are curses that are enacted upon evil rulers and governments. All of this description is apocalyptic. Gods relationship with this earth is one in which He must rule with a rod of iron. That means He warns rulers and then brings judgement.

But we cant keep the law in ourselves. There is no place in scripture where a saint approaches God on the basis of his own good works. So why would you even insinuate that we are good enough for God to trust after He proves that it is right for us that we can do it.

The doctrine is that we only come in the name and authority of the Lord. So we approach God on the basis of His mercy alone. If we were to worry about a standard of love according to ones interpretation of that standard then we would be wasting our time. The only profitable response to commands... laws.. decrees.. is to acknowledge that we do not keep them at any time. Without acknowledging this we are showing that we are comparing ourselves with one another rather than the true standard of law keeping which is Christ. Thinking like this only adds burdens on us that God never intended for us to carry. These burdens are our own wished curses.

But we approach God already accepted in Christ even tho we acknowledge that we do not keep that standard or command. So our intention is not to beg for acceptance or a better try next time but we are asking for mercy and grace. In doing this we are relinquishing our rite to choose something good or whatever and we are putting all of our trust in Him.  We are engaging ourselves in a battle to against the world, flesh and the Devil. lol

So the value of the standard is to motivate us to move on to greater glory as we look on Christ. We go from glory to glory. There is nothing about struggling with our wills or wrestling with God ..asking Him to crush us .... etc.

Sproul has been talking about t.u.l.i.p. recently on his radio show.  Today was about the "u" for unconditional election.  What he misses is that God doesn't look "down the tunnel of time" (as he says arminianism teaches) but as Creator of time is both beyond and within time.  Thus He sees all time simultaneously, and thus can select "before the Beginning" those who will freely come to Him given His loving efforts, without force or coercion.

And He keeps intact our ability to rebel against Him as long as we can hold out against His love, and He foreknows what all our choices will be, yet allows/empowers us to make the final decision of whether or not we want to live in intimate union with Him forever or would rather be destroyed as mortals than be with Him eternally.

One of the errors theology often makes is assuming regeneration happens as soon as we become attracted to or interested in religious things, and start to "seek God".  But regeneration, the making of an new Creature, does not take place until Christ is alive in the person at our request.  Jesus doesn't "bust into our hearts" uninvited.  Still, the Spirit prepares us in many ways (convicting, empowering, enlightening, attracting), while allowing us to suppress the drawing as long as we so choose.

But when He comes into us at our sincere request, to be the Lord and Savior He is, then we are His forever, children reborn for the Kingdom.  Until then we may be increasingly enlightened, and inspired and convicted, but without our deep desire for Christ He does not enter us.

Revelation 3:20
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."

He doesn't break down the door to make us new creatures (as He well could), but humbly knocks and gives us the opportunity to invite Him in.  Of course, we couldn't even ask Him to save us without His providing everything we need to trust and depend on Him for salvation, so we can never be proud of our decision to receive His unending Life, since the glory and honor go to Him.

As we have seen in the above posts on the suggested expansion of "t.u.l.i.p.", "election" is unforced as well as being unconditional on any good thing in us, rather it is based on our choice to become "as little children" toward our Dad instead of trying to be righteous on our own, thus rejecting real righteousness (His).  He will never refuse our coming to Him in a childlike trust and dependence on His love for us, but won't "make us" do even that against our wills.

Matthew 18:2-4
"Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the Kingdom of Heaven.  Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven."

K_k:  We are to humble ourselves by recognizing how we are nothing apart from Him, and need Him desperately for all the love He is.  He doesn't "beat us into submission" but calls and attracts us to Truth.

Quote
"Thus He sees all time simultaneously, and thus can select "before the Beginning" those who will freely come to Him given His loving efforts, without force or coercion."

Kk you need to study why even the Armininist did not accept what you are saying. Because it doesnt even pass the test of your simple philosopher. God cannot choose do not choose. To choose to not choose is to choose to not allow. No one in history would acknowledge this as a true statement. This is a contradiction. Study it yourself.
