There is one verse that people always go to, and it stands out in the Psalms. The Psalms are passionate cries from people who are sinners who praise the Lord for divine His forgiveness. The Psalm tho is alluding to how a Christian views Gods constant Fatherly presence by pointing out what happens to the wicked who has no knowledge of personal sin. It's the verse that says "if I regard iniquity in my heart the Lord will not hear me. Thank God He has heard my prayer! "The Psalmist is teaching a wicked man condition of blindness to the law. His sin nature is not contained by the law. The sin nature that is not restrained by the law is "regarding sin" redefining the law is violence toward a neighbor. The saint demonstrates regard for others because the sin is constrained and contained by the law. We were in darkness of "regarding sin" but God implanted His covenant or containment when he planted the seed of the word in setting us apart. The wicked man obtains no remedy. The Lord does not hear the prayers of the wicked. Precisely if we were not implanted with the covenant law we would be like the wicked who regard (blind to the knowledge of sin by the law.)
To think we can please God on our own is sheer folly. The utter devastation of Gods pre ordained curses on this earth and mankind. God does not want to placate a men guilt... God put the most unpleasant curse on a dead man walking. The earth is dead men walking. The curse is so influential men are comfortable having power in their own success, lifelong health, and high position. The wicked is the most hate filled murders who would not think twice about extinguishing God. God must restrain men on a leash to save them from themselves! The most loving thing God could do to the wicked is promptly cut life short. Sin is the ultimate affront to God. God curses men ancestors, live stock, personal wealth, well being and mental capacity. God is gracious to allow men to be alive while they await swift judgment. God not only hates sin, but God curses sinners.
Confession does not take away sin because we never confess all of our sins. Our own works cannot make us acceptable to God. The implanted covenant law of love for neighbor is the lawful knowledge of sin. The implanted ability of covenant is united with the power of law. We are implanted with the completed work of the law. The apostle teaches sin is that foreign nature which is separated and quarantined in containment of law. The law pronounces identification of Christ death. Our sins are not counted. Since we died to sin, we confess sins by grace.
