All abuse comes by way of betrayal. Every person experiences the reaction of hate. Its not the person who has feelings of hate that is dangerous. Its the person who acts upon those feelings. The Psalmist is describing his reaction to the abuse he is receiving from his enemies.

When a person is being abuse he strong desires to flee to safety. The victim is usually horrified by the hate they feel toward the abuser. The victim is afraid that they might end up acting upon that hate. But Psalmist teaches us there is nothing wrong with wishing revenge.15 Let death take my enemies by surprise; let them go down alive to the grave, for evil finds lodging among them." There is only two things we can do with hate. If we ignore the hate we will turn it on ourselves. But if we use the biblcal way to deal with the hate towardabuse then we will repel the abuser. Our problem is not that we are accepting of others. Our problem is that we think of ourselves as strong enough to entertain the threats of people. God has given us the ability to wish without taking action. The lack of feeling that we developin cursing is the conviction we have in repelling abusive people.Ps 17May my vindication come from you; may your eyes see what is right." We live in a word where we must prove our righteous cause by our action. But because men are sinners they are in bondage to excusing themselves and being hard on others. This is why God declares that
