Ps 28 8The LORD is the strength of his people,
a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.
9 Save your people and bless your inheritance;
be their shepherd and carry them forever."
The Psalmist is teaching that the strength that God excised when He spoke all things into existence is given to His elect. The creative strength is exercised by God in salvation. This strength is the foundation of our lives. Just as the Shepherd carries the helpless sheep so God acts according to His creative axioms in order to cause us to stand. We must understand the work of the law exercised by God who uses evil as part of the foundation that we stand on. When we are saved we are shielded from the condemnation of the law. We are being under girded by Gods control of good and evil. This is more than a standard of morality. It is used in the exercise of Gods power over the destructive activity that is a result of sin and corruption. Sin and righteousness are like oil and water. Just as the oil does not absorb the water, so our use of the axioms prevent us from being infected by the virus of the curse.
We repel the destructive force of evil in the pronouncement of the curse. The Psalmist is teaching that we must be carried by God in order to be saved. So we are born in world where we are not strong enough to repel the destructive dangers of evil. When we are the most vulnerable to destruction he has given us the curse as the foundation to stand on. Because we are always faced with danger we must be able to destroy the opposition. If there was no curse of the law then we would not be able destroy the threat. Sin has brought the threat of destruction that must be quarantined. This is why the Psalmist prays 4Repay them for their deeds and for their evil work; repay them for what their hands have done and bring back upon them what they deserve. God is not a judge in order to punish every sin. He is the judge in order to defend His elect from the threat of destruction. How does God provide the sure foundation? Through poxes.

We must acknowledge that we face an enemy that never rest. We cannot outmaneuver the enemy. We cannot run from the enemy. If there was no curse then mankind would be destroyed. So God prevents the wicked from destroying Gods elect. God responded to sin by giving man the pox so that whatever he desires results in cursing himself. The curse of the law has become a gift to us in order to allow and prevent. 6Praise be to the LORD ,
for he has heard my cry for mercy.
7The LORD is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.
My heart leaps for joy
and I will give thanks to him in song.
