Ps62 2He alone is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
3How long will you assault a man?
Would all of you throw him down-
this leaning wall, this tottering fence?"
The Psalmist is distinguishing between his relationship with God according to the law, covenants, curses, statutes, decrees and promises as opposed to his horizontal relationships in creation. God created all things according to their true value. When man sinned, he was cursed with the desire to devalue the creation. The pox is that each man desires to absolve himself while condemning others. This is why the Apostle teaches that we naturally have a bias in thinking that we are better than sinners and we do not give others the same deference. Because were corrupted on the level of desire then we think , speak and act to devalue the culture. He is saying that when he pronounces the axioms he rises up to the true value according to Gods view. This is why the apostle says that if the Spirit makes you free you shall be free indeed. You see God does not relate to us with emotional highs and lows. God acts according to our true value. The more that the Psalmist speaks the axioms the closer he draws near to God and distant from others according to true value.
Sin brings violence and violence brings abuse. Sin is not just an act against you neighbor but its the inability to meet the standard that is required to act as parts in unifying creation. The Psalmist is describing his inward struggles living in a world that devalues the creation.When he experiences value in pronouncing he rises up in defense of God. The pronouncements of the king describe the value that God placed on man in the creation covenant. So the Psalmist expresses his frustration of the corruption of that value that he faces in this world. 3How long will you assault a man? Would all of you throw him down- this leaning wall, this tottering fence?" If God has created all things for His glory then in order for God to receive that glory, we must experience the value of that glory in order to bring Him glory. In order for Gods elect to know that true value, He must meet our needs. The Psalmist teaches that we rise up to the line of blessing and cursing in order for God to unite our desires with His desires and experience the justified value in the creation covenant. Gods value is revealed in the axioms. 5Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. 6He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
