Spurgeons Around the wicket gate discussion cont.

Where does the bible say that God is gonna tell you things you like and also things you dont like? This is a two line reasoning. The point being that if God tells you something that you dont like its usually because you know you cannot do it pleasing to God. Either we are all in the same boat as to law keeping or some of us are teachers in the sense that we can present ourselves hearing things we dont like because we know we are gonna be forced to do them. If you do not like something then obviously if you meet the requirements its necessary that your forced to do them. So I always conclude that I cannot keep those teachings that accuse me. Its not a good motive to keep them.

God curses accusers because He has ceased to count our sin. There is no wiggle room to be a christian and stand as the accuser of the brethren. Ive been saying that there are two ways that we can be motivated out of love for God. One is growing through being reminded about Gods covenant faithfulness. The other way is growing down by pushing the curse down. There is no such thing as a good try in scripture. Either you do the command in perfection or you are judged. This is why God curses accusers because every believer enjoys God not counting their sins. So anyone who gives it a good try should be judged by the whole law.

I cannot remember any time that Ive complied with Gods commands. But how can we love them if they are those things we do not want to hear? Because everyone enjoys the same ability that God promises to give. But the ability is not to make us compliant to the law. Rather it gives us an agreement that we are righteous because of Christ work on our behalf. But at the same time if God should judge man then who could stand? So the only people who stand opposed to grace are those who seek to destroy our trust that Gods grace is enough to cover our sin.

Its interesting that the scripture describes the threat of a wicked man as an accusation. It is the same thing as abuse. Just like we are motivated to love God because God remains faithful to us when we sin so we are motivated to love God because it is legitimate to respond to an accusation with a curse. May those who love you rejoice and be glad in you , may all who love your salvation always say the Lord be exalted who delights in the well being of His servant. Do not bring your servant into judgement for no one living is righteous before you...the enemy attacks me ..he crushes me to the ground ...he makes me dwell in darkness like those long dead ...so my spirit grows faint within my heart within me is dismayed.( Poetic war language to describe the destructive experience a man feels when he is being accused.)

This is sort of how we begin to think correctly. When we encourage ourselves in Gods covenant language and we pronounce Gods word on the wrong way to think...it is the same thing as cheering God to give us ability. The scripture does not just present God as a rigid soverign but a God who can be moved by our petitions and praises. And really this is how we are motivated to love God. We can flame the desire by speaking to God so that our desire is unified with His desire and then we  are cheered by His success. "He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me and prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God. "
