Bill I know people who use their verses to control others. I am not
saying that you do this. Over the years Ive seen how you focus on the
gospel of grace. As you know this christian life is really about the
words we use. A lot of people are always looking at the trees so to
speak ...they never get to the root cause of the problems of this world.
They are always looking at the trees and never see the forest. They
live their lives focused on their particular verses ..like a horoscope.
I mean most people just preach do do do and yet the bible describes our
problem as not what we obtain but how we obtain it. And you see this in
the NT of how the apostle talks about christian unity in the church. It
goes beyond the limits of this world. It is a spiritual unity. The
unity extends to connecting everyone who is saved to the far corners of
the earth. The apostle teaches that our unity is that we are of one
mind. Instead of saying that it is accomplished by the things we do for
one another He says that we all agree on points of doctrine as the
expression of christian unity.
The point is that we can do do do
and work against christian unity. If we talk about christian unity as a
duality of purpose then we are denying there is one purpose. But we see
the apostle gives us a fail safe way to judge christian unity. He says
that it is expressed in the way we walk. And taking this concept from
the Psalms he teaches that the way we walk is our communication. We
speak in a certain way and it is described as christian unity.
I
had a pastor who was extremely gifted in this area. Every time I was
together with him ,,,he spoke the bible to me ...he presented the gospel
of grace. I really never heard him say anything that was not
doctrinally correct. God has give us a message that not only addresses
how we are to act. But it addresses the things that sustain us. The
Psalmist compares the meditation of scripture to eating food at the
Kings table. In other words when the Psalmist meditated on Gods word he
described it as ascending to a rock on a mountain. This means that he
got a perspective of his circumstances in which he could see Gods hand
molding and making everything for His glory. I call this rising up to
the line of blessing and cursing. Believe it or not the purpose of the
psalmist meditation was to get above the circumstances to have an
advantage of those who opposed him. Like a king participating in war. He
ascends to a view where he is able to know how to obtain victory. But
if the king remained on the ground then he would be tempted to use his
own control and drag God into his scheme.
This is why there is
so much deception in this world. Because people do not realize how much
growth in these areas of doctrine and scripture will determine how they
live their lives .It will determine who they think is important and what
things they trust in to obtain a goal. I warn any man if he has not
experienced this view from the rock that he is deceived in some ways. We
really have the ability within ourselves to judge all things by the use
of scripture. And in this sense any other instrument is an arm of the
flesh and will get us going down side roads. I surely want to be rite
next to David in the other side. I will wear myself out to stay on this
one road. I will pronounce the truth as God says it. I will not let the
fear of man keep me from getting to mystery. Well, I mean according to
Gods allowance.
